Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor plays Candy, a collaborator who stands by him as he navigates an elite, demanding environment. For months he has grappled with a plan, and an epiphany arrives as he plays billiards alone: a new approach crystallizes, offering a viable path to safely separate the twins. The operation stretches over a long night; about 22 hours into the procedure, Ben and his surgical team execute the plan and succeed in separating the twins, saving both lives and delivering relief to their grateful parents, Peter and Augusta. The film closes with Ben Carson surrounded by the press and reflecting on the journey—from a difficult Detroit childhood to a career built on precision, risk, and hope.
