The Stranger enters the ghost town and faces a deal

The Stranger is dragged into a ghost town by his horse, which dies upon entry. A gypsy family offers him $50,000 to return Princess Elizabeth to Spain. He initially rejects the ransom, but when Barbarians raid their home, he fights them off and agrees to take the Princess to Spain.

Spain-bound peril and capture

In Spain, the Princess and the Stranger find themselves in the middle of a brutal clash between allied Moors and invading Barbarians. The Barbarians overpower the Moors, capture the Stranger and the Princess, and bind the Stranger by his feet as the Princess is dragged away on horseback. He loudly proclaims he will stay until he’s paid, and the scene ends with a Barbarian cannon firing at him.

Morelia, a member of the Spanish resistance, rescues the Stranger from captivity. They bring him to the Princess’s general, who is dying. The General reveals that only the Princess can claim Rodrigo's treasure, names a temple in the mountains, and then dies.

Barbarians raid the town where the rebels are hiding. The Stranger defends the rebels, firing from horseback and hanging some survivors by their feet over the walls. The raid underscores the threat to the rebels and their chances to reclaim the treasure.

Councillor Alfonso attempts to rescue the Stranger in exchange for the treasure. The Stranger outwits him, threatening him with the Scorpion's Sting and getting him to swallow a wax ball containing a secret message to pass along to the Barbarians. The stage is set for a last-minute gambit.

The Stranger prepares for battle, loading himself with dynamite and a quadruple-barreled shotgun. The Barbarians discover the Scorpion's Sting encased in the ball of wax and prepare for his arrival, heightening the sense of an impending clash.

In the climactic confrontation, the Stranger pins the Barbarian chief at gunpoint and pours live scorpions into his armor, killing him with a shotgun. Sombra fires his cannon into darkness as sunrise approaches, and the castle explodes behind the Stranger. The duel reaches its brutal conclusion as Sombra is finally defeated.
