Sukiyaki Western Django

A solitary gunman makes his way to the town of Yuta, a location caught in the crossfire between the rival clans: the white-clad Genji and the red-sashed Heike. Despite attempts from both factions to recruit him, he chooses to remain independent. He finds refuge with a compassionate woman named Ruriko, who cares for her mute grandson, Heihachi. Ruriko shares the town’s bleak history, revealing that it once thrived on gold mining until the two clans’ greed led to a violent struggle, causing the locals to flee.

The sheriff, loyal to the Heike, recounts a tragic story: a Heike man named Akira fell in love with a Genji woman named Shizuka. They lived contentedly until a brutal attack from the Heike leader, Kiyomori, resulted in Akira’s death, leaving their son Heihachi in a state of silence due to the trauma. To protect her son, Shizuka resorted to prostitution for the Genji, and now Heihachi tends to a trio of roses, waiting for the day they bloom once again.

Later, a confrontation pushes the gunman into a challenge against the Genji henchman, Yoichi, leading to a night with Shizuka. Before proceeding, Genji leader Yoshitsune notes the gunman’s resemblance to the infamous female gunslinger, Bloody Benten. Shizuka quickly warns the gunman of Yoshitsune’s plan to arm Yoichi against him and urges her to flee with Heihachi the next day. The following morning, with Shizuka’s tip-off, the sheriff informs Kiyomori of the Genji’s plot, resulting in an ambush where Kiyomori seizes a Gatling gun hidden in a coffin.

As the Genji prepare for their attack, Ruriko, Shizuka, and Heihachi attempt to escape the town. Just as Shizuka decides to return for the roses, she is fatally shot by Yoichi. The gunman tries to save her but is disarmed and tortured by a Genji thug. Just then, Ruriko’s loyal servant, Toshio, intervenes, revealing Ruriko as the feared Bloody Benten after she takes down Yoichi and his gang. In retaliation for the wagon raid, the Genji decimate the Heike fortress.

While the local doctor, Piripero, treats the gunman’s injuries, Ruriko asks Toshio to collect weapons from the elder, Piringo, who discloses that Akira was Ruriko’s late husband. Fueled by vengeance, Ruriko devises a plan to bait the Genji with a chest of gold nuggets. The ensuing battle leads to the gunman and Ruriko defeating the Genjis, but Ruriko’s quest for revenge comes at a price, as she is mortally wounded by the sheriff after eliminating Kiyomori and the remaining Heikes. Toshio avenges Ruriko by killing the sheriff, while Piripero impales him with a tombstone cross.

In a climactic duel, the gunman faces off against Yoshitsune, whose katana skill deflects the gunman’s bullets. However, in a swift move, the gunman catches Yoshitsune’s blade and fires a concealed Derringer, striking him down. After a solemn burial for their lost friends, the gunman gives Heihachi a portion of the gold, as the boy gazes at the roses and softly whispers, “Love.” The gunman departs, leaving Heihachi with a memory of hope as he rides off into the snowy landscape. An epilogue reveals that years later, Heihachi embarks on a journey to Italy, destined to become the legendary gunslinger known as “Django.”
