Get Smart’s Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control

Bruce and Lloyd in the United States develop Optical Camouflage Technology (OCT). The early prototype has a battery life of only six minutes, making practical field use difficult. They remain hopeful that future improvements could extend operation to over 24 hours.

The lab is bombed and the OCT is stolen, throwing their project into crisis. The team initially suspects Bob Howard of the CIA, but clues soon point to someone using the cloak in Maraguay. A plan is drawn up to infiltrate the Maraguay embassy using the robot Hymie, though the attempt ends in failure.

In the lab’s security footage, Isabella is revealed as the thief of the OCT. The betrayal adds a personal sting to the already tense international intrigue surrounding the device. The team shifts focus to recovering the technology before it falls into worse hands.

Lloyd tries to use Isabella as a honey trap to retrieve the OCT, but Bob Howard beats him to it. Before Howard can charm her, a laser beam renders him bald, leaving him humiliated and foiled once more. The rival meddling escalates the comedy of errors around the mission.

Isabella meets President Krause, who reveals that KAOS has offered $50 million for the OCT. Yet Krause is more interested in Bruce and Lloyd, the device’s principal developers. Isabella proposes trading Bruce and Lloyd for Maraguay scientists, including her father.

Bruce and Lloyd discover that polarized sunglasses act as an anti-OCT, enabling the wearer to see through the invisibility cloak. The discovery provides a potential countermeasure for counter-espionage and shifts their approach to the mission. They begin preparing for a high-stakes embassy infiltration.

They travel to the Maraguay embassy accompanied by Nina, hoping Isabella’s offer to assist will help them retrieve the OCT. Isabella’s motivation stems from her father’s kidnapping, aligning her interests with theirs. The group navigates tense security as they prepare to move.

Inside Krause’s room they find the president in bed and knock him out with a toxic perfume. They open the safe and locate the OCT, which they use to slip past guards and escape unseen. Their plan hinges on careful timing and stealth under scrutiny.

The President confronts them with a gun, but Lloyd tases him. The unlikely demise comes when an elk head falls on him, ending his interference in a comically abrupt fashion. The danger from Krause’s regime dissipates as a result.

Isabella hands over the cloak to Bruce and Lloyd and is finally reunited with her father. The exchange marks a symbolic closure to her personal arc within the larger mission. The team secures the cloak and looks toward resolution.

Bruce and Lloyd return to their lab in the United States and are awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for their technological breakthrough. The mission concludes with official recognition and a renewed focus on the OCT’s potential future applications. Their work earns them national hero status.
