In 1996, a highly esteemed student and star athlete, Calvin Joyner, receives accolades during his high school’s Senior Assembly. During his heartfelt speech, the atmosphere takes a turn when Trevor Olson (Jason Bateman) and a group of bullies rudely intrude, seizing young Robbie Wierdicht (Sione Kelepi) while he is in the shower. They mercilessly toss him into the assembly hall, drawing laughter from everyone except for Calvin and his girlfriend, Maggie. The humiliation leaves Robbie exposed and fleeing, wrapped in Calvin’s jacket for cover.

Fast forward twenty years, Calvin finds himself unhappily entrenched in his career as an accountant, whereas Maggie thrives as a partner at a prestigious law firm. Facing challenges in their marriage, Maggie proposes they attend therapy. Unexpectedly, Calvin receives a friend request on Facebook from a man who calls himself Bob Stone, later revealing that he is actually Robbie, now transformed into an imposing, muscular figure played by Dwayne Johnson. Bob comes to Calvin’s aid, effortlessly neutralizing a group of potential bullies, showcasing his newfound confidence.

As Bob spends the night on Calvin’s couch, he requests Calvin’s assistance with accounting records related to suspicious multi-million-dollar transactions ahead of an imminent auction. However, his evasive behavior raises questions. The next day, Calvin’s life takes a chaotic turn when a team of CIA agents, led by Pamela Harris, barges into his home, searching for Bob. They inform him that Bob is a rogue agent, capable of treachery, as he aims to sell sensitive satellite codes to the highest bidder.

Despite the unfolding chaos, Bob persuades Calvin that he needs his skills to thwart a criminal known as the Black Badger, who intends to execute the sinister sale. When Calvin finds himself in unprecedented danger, he reluctantly follows Bob’s lead, leading them into a web of deceit, abduction, and a marriage counseling ruse where Bob masquerades as the therapist. Throughout the pandemonium, Calvin struggles with his loyalty to Bob while confronting the CIA in a high-stakes game of betrayal.

During an unexpected turn of events, as they draw closer to capturing the Black Badger, Calvin discovers the profound entanglements of criminal deception. With the CIA’s pursuit and Calvin’s underlying guilt weighing heavily on him, he grapples with the harsh realities of his decisions. A dramatic confrontation ensues in a Boston underground parking garage, where loyalties are tested and lives hang in the balance.

In a climactic showdown, amidst gunfire and the revelation of the true identity of the Black Badger, Bob ultimately shows his heroic colors. The stakes come to a head as they deliver the captured codes to Pam, who finds herself at the heart of an entire reunion filled with long-buried high school drama.

As the credits roll, it’s confirmed that Maggie is expecting a child, and Calvin embarks on a new chapter in life with the CIA. In a nostalgic gesture, Bob returns Calvin’s high school varsity jacket—a symbol of their enduring friendship. The film concludes with a mix of laughter, nostalgia, and a hint of hope for the future.
