Sam Alexander owns an automobile workshop but is more focused on scripting and directing plays. He and his friends are working on Shakunthalam, Kalidasa's famous play. His mother Gracy Kutty worries about his carefree attitude.

The main actress Komalam elopes with Krishnan Kutty, threatening the production. Sam searches for a new face to enact Shakunthala. Gracy Kutty worries about his easygoing attitude.

Sam meets Sreedevi Menon and is drawn to her. He tries to woo her with charm and persistence. She becomes entangled with the Shakunthala role, complicating the relationships around them.

To ease Sam, Sreedevi accepts the role of Shakunthala without the families knowing. Sam pretends to hate her to hide his true feelings. The onstage partnership threatens traditional expectations.

Meledath Vishwanatha Menon and his son Vishnu disapprove of Sam since he is a Syrian Christian in a Nair Hindu family. Ravindran Nair, an influential IG friend, plots a match between his son Rajkumar and Sreedevi to gain control of the empire. These tensions color all major decisions.

On the way home, Sam and Sreedevi are caught red-handed by Vishnu. Ravindran Nair’s scheme accelerates the conflict, and Sam is beaten by police as a result. The couple’s troubles deepen as public and familial pressures mount.

Sam and Sreedevi escape and spend a few days away from the worries of the families. Their absence intensifies the pursuit and raises the stakes for both sides. The lovers hope for a fresh start away from prying eyes.

They are recaptured and Sam is arrested for kidnapping Sreedevi. He is jailed for ten months, missing important events. During this time he learns that Sreedevi is pregnant and that she is moved to a distant place for safety.

Sreedevi gives birth to a baby boy while Sam is imprisoned. The newborn alters the family dynamics, making Meledon and Vishnu view the child as an heir. The new life softens previously hardline stances toward Sam and Sreedevi.

Ravindran Nair schemes to capture the baby by sending his son Rajkumar to kidnap and kill the child. Vishnu tries to intervene to protect his sister and the baby. The threat of violence looms large over the fragile family balance.

Sam breaks out of jail and races to the house where Sreedevi stays. Sreedevi attempts suicide to escape Rajkumar but Sam intervenes and saves her. Sam defeats Rajkumar and protects the child, breaking the most dangerous cycle of violence.

With the baby safe, Menon and Vishnu unite Sam and Sreedevi. Sam resolves to be with his family, but ultimately returns to jail after seeing them one last time. The curtain falls on a bittersweet adjustment to a new, precarious peace.
