Frozen Scream

Academic scientists Lil Stanhope and Sven Johnsson pursue immortality by turning subjects into zombies and storing them in walk-in freezers. They argue about interfering with nature and frame the research as a breakthrough in longevity. The early phase sets the ominous tone and ethical boundaries for what follows.

Tom Girard is killed in his house by hooded intruders who inject him with a serum. Ann is not present at the time, but the incident triggers the investigation. The police later report finding Tom's body with no trace of the intruders or the needles.

Ann is hospitalized after what Lil calls 'the incident in the hallway.' She insists she was drugged by the intruders and left unconscious. Lil downplays the event, claiming there's no evidence of hooded men or hypodermic needles.

Detective Kevin McGuire is assigned to the case and suspects a link to the missing medical students Kirk Richard and Bob Russell. He tries to interview Ann, but Lil prevents it, complicating the investigation. The hospital staff discusses discharging Ann and replacing her nurse with Cathrin, a zombie.

Ann and Kevin interview Father O'Brien, who recounts Tom's claim that Sven used curare on rats, reviving them and slowing aging. He warns that the revived animals act almost soulless. Shortly after, a zombie strangles O'Brien.

Intruders burst into Ann's house and a zombie threatens her, with Tom's cold, numb voice lingering in the background. Cathrin is not present at first, then returns and denies that anyone was in the house. Kevin takes Ann home, leaving the immediate danger behind for the moment.

Back at home, Kevin and Ann sleep together, and Kevin declares his love for her. Ann does not acknowledge her feelings openly, and the personal risk of their situation casts a long shadow over their relationship. Their bond complicates the investigation and the peril surrounding them.

Tom tells Ann of Sven's work as they attend a beach ceremony on Halloween where students chant 'love and immortality' around a bonfire. Tom leaves to confess to Father O'Brien while Ann watches the scene. The ritual atmosphere foreshadows the fusion of religion and science in the immortality project.

Ann searches Lil's office and discovers photos of the missing medical students. She informs Kevin that she will search Sven's home lab during his Halloween party, hoping to uncover the truth behind the experiments. The plan intensifies the sense that the party will be a turning point.

During Sven's Halloween party, Cathrin overheats and collapses, dying in front of the attendees. Her death underscores the deadly stakes of the immortality project. The party continues, but the weight of the events hangs over everyone present.

Ann discovers a freezer in an old house containing Tom and the missing students, who are now zombies. The zombies attack; Kevin kills one but is knocked over by a car and hospitalized. A second zombie chases Ann until Lil declares he has been out of the freezer too long and dies.

Ann is brought to Sven's lab where he intends to zombify her. Lil kills Sven and tries to recruit Ann to take his place on the immortality project. Ann agrees to go along as a ruse but secretly plans to destroy the lab.

Ann destroys the lab to thwart the immortality project as Lil escalates her schemes. O'Brien arrives in his zombie form, joining the confrontation and signaling that the conflict will not end quietly. The collapse of the lab heightens the sense of an irreversible tragedy.

Ann, now a zombie, promises eternal love to Kevin as they are together in the hospital. Lil injects Kevin with zombie serum, seizing control and sealing a grim conclusion. O'Brien's lingering presence as a zombie completes the cycle of mutation and manipulation.
