Frostbite

The remnants of the 5th SS Panzer Division Wiking flee the advancing Red Army and seek shelter in an abandoned cabin. Darkness falls as they are attacked by vampires that inhabit a hidden crypt beneath the cabin. The survivors scramble to defend themselves against an ancient evil they unknowingly awaken.

Beckert, the last survivor of the massacred platoon, brings a child vampire named Maria to northern Sweden. He plans to study vampirism and, eventually, create a new hybrid species. The escape and experiments set a shadow over the landscape that will influence events for decades.

In present-day Sweden, Doctor Annika and her teenage daughter Saga relocate to a town in Lappland so Annika can work near geneticist Gerhard Beckert. The polar night has begun, with a full month until dawn, casting a foreboding gloom. Saga is uneasy about the isolation and the long winter.

Saga finds companionship in Vega, a mysterious goth girl who invites her to a party. The invitation promises escape from boredom as the town sleeps under the polar night. Saga decides to go, hoping for something to do.

At the local hospital, medical student Sebastian discovers pills that Beckert has been using to treat a comatose patient. He suspects they are ordinary drugs, and he tests them. Instead of a high, he gains acute hearing, enhanced vision, and a thirst he cannot quench.

Vega shows up at Sebastian's house to collect pills she paid for to supply the party. Sebastian pretends he forgot, but Vega ultimately steals the pills. The exchange foreshadows the cascading spread of vampirism.

Back at the hospital, Annika tends to a coma patient who suddenly bites her. Beckert arrives and, realizing what has happened, knocks her unconscious. The scene reveals Beckert's dangerous obsession and his role in the vampiric experiments.

A showdown in the abandoned cabin pits Beckert against the forces of vampirism. He emerges as the sole survivor alongside Maria, the child vampire, after a brutal struggle. Beckert's future plans shift from a cure to creating hybrids.

Annika fights Beckert in the hospital, breaking free and driving a stake through his heart. She then runs him over with an ambulance, destroying him. The victory ends Beckert's dark experiments for the time being.

Vega hands the pills to John, who consumes one and dissolves the line between guest and predator. He slips the remaining pills into the punch, unknowingly infecting several partygoers. The party erupts into a bloody hunt as vampires begin to feed.

As the situation spirals, Saga hides in the basement while Vega pursues her. Saga escapes into the backyard and confronts Vega, impaling her on a garden gnome. Vega dies protesting her undignified death.

Police arrive to investigate noise complaints, misidentifying the chaos as drug use by neighbors. They are quickly overrun by the rampaging vampires. Saga is forced to flee in an ambulance with the aid of the terrified drivers.

During the ambulance ride, Saga encounters Maria, who tells her that they will be sisters. The revelation hints at a future connection between the two young vampires. The moment bridges the two timelines and deepens Saga's burden.

As Saga looks toward the driver's seat, she sees Annika wearing red vampire eyes in the front seat. The chilling image confirms that Annika herself has become a vampire. The film closes with this ominous hint of what lies ahead.
