Learning that Project Mayhem plans to destroy credit card company headquarters by blowing up their buildings, the Narrator tries to warn Marla and intervene. In a final act of self-sacrifice, the Narrator shoots himself in the mouth, killing Tyler and symbolically ending his alter ego.
