Danielle, a wealthy and elderly woman, begins her day by visiting a beauty parlor to have her hair styled. During the appointment, she suddenly starts experiencing difficulty breathing, revealing a shocking revelation—she has only two-thirds of her lungs remaining. This disturbing discovery prompts the beauty girl, Kassia Lancaster, to quickly call her friend, Wylie Nino Manfredi, her other nephew, who happens to be with a girl when she arrives to pick him up.
Kassia takes Wylie to her parlor and explains the situation: she saw Danielle, whom Wylie calls Danny, collapse unexpectedly and came to a chilling conclusion. With a twisted motive, Kassia devised a plan to kill Aunt Danny by shutting off the oxygen supply in her nightly oxygen tent—an act of murder she intends to carry out. Wylie, initially hesitant, agrees to join her plan after hearing the details. However, Wylie’s psyche is also disturbed by a traumatic childhood fear: cats. As Kassia spots an orange cat and attempts to stop it, the feline jumps onto Wylie, who reacts violently by throwing it into a machine, which electrocutes the helpless animal.
The following day, Wylie visits Aunt Danny’s room but quickly feels overwhelmed by the numerous cats that now seem to infest her space, forcing him to leave. He then engages in a conversation with his brother, Luke Rossana Canghiari, who is tending to their aunt despite her evident dislike for him. Luke suspects Wylie’s visit is motivated by greed, believing he aims to inherit Danny’s estate upon her death. Wylie, however, dismisses these suspicions and is more focused on the bizarre situation.
Wylie’s frustration with Kassia grows, especially after she sends him into a house crowded with cats; he’s frightened and irritated, but eventually forgives her, and they share an intimate moment. Meanwhile, Luke uncovers a shocking plan: Danny intends to leave all her wealth to her cats, which shocks Wylie. In a desperate attempt to alter her will, Wylie persuades Danny to make him her sole heir. Luke, in turn, lures the cats away with meat, clearing her room.
Later, Danny overhears Wylie talking with Kassia about the murder plot, but when she confronts him, he dismisses her concerns as a joke. Yet, the cats’ presence intensifies, and their return signals more sinister events. The will gets revised overnight, and the next morning, Wylie and Danny head out for breakfast. While Wylie goes to confront Kassia, who is seen in her house’s window, Danny attempts to move her wheelchair down the sloped sidewalk. Unfortunately, the wheelchair short circuits, trapping her, and an argument ensues inside the house.
As Kassia notices Danny, Wylie rushes to save her but is stopped by a jumping cat, which causes Danny to lose control and start tumbling down the street. Fortunately, Luke arrives just in time to rescue her, and she wakes up in her bed. She tries to alert the doctor that Wylie and Kassia are trying to kill her, but she is drugged with a sleeping pill and loses consciousness.
Later, Kassia attempts to turn off Danny’s oxygen again, only to be thwarted by the orange cat that appears to be the same one electrocuted earlier. As Kassia leaves, she is shocked to see an army of cats emerging from the cellar, following a bloody trail into Wylie’s room. When Wylie sees the cats, he reactively enters a state of catalepsy as one jumps on him, but Luke quickly pulls the animal off. At this moment, Kassia and Luke share a kiss, revealing their sinister collaboration to kill both Danny and Wylie, leaving Luke as the sole beneficiary.
Luke then forces Wylie into the cellar and enters Danny’s room. Meanwhile, Kassia, clutching the bowl of meat used to lure the cats, accidentally spills it on herself, causing the cats to attack her. She flees downstairs into the greenhouse as the felines block her access to Danny. In a desperate move, Kassia begins to climb a ladder, pursued by an aggressive cat. As she reaches the top, the cat bites her, causing her to lose her balance. The ladder topples, and she falls to her death.
Hearing the chaos, Luke discovers Kassia’s body. Approaching her, he finds that Danny is still alive, having been secretly brought into the greenhouse for her protection by Wylie. Danny instructs him to call the doctor and report Kassia’s death as an accident. Moments later, Wylie walks into the room—having recovered from his paralysis—stating that he never intended to stay with them and expressing his intentions to leave. In a shocking conclusion, Wylie departs with a nonchalant attitude, leaving Danny and Luke stunned, while the same orange cat watches from a ledge above, hinting that danger might still be lurking.
