Tom, a dedicated scientist, invents a groundbreaking machine that allows a person to enter the subconscious of another individual. However, he faces a pressing challenge in securing funding to finalize his prototype. Faced with mounting pressure, he reluctantly accepts financial backing from an anonymous investor who later reveals their true intentions. The investor, an official at the Department of Corrections, wishes to exploit the machine for extracting involuntary confessions from inmates. Initially horrified by this unethical proposition, Tom is persuaded by his entrepreneurial friend to go ahead with it.
Tom soon enters the mind of Anthony, portrayed by Dominic Bogart, an addicted individual accused of murdering his girlfriend, Adrienne, played by Augie Duke. Although Anthony willingly volunteers for the procedure to prove his innocence, Tom navigates through Anthony's shattered recollections and uncovers incriminating evidence of his guilt. When Tom attempts to return to his own body, disaster strikes as the machine malfunctions, leaving him trapped within Anthony's mind, while his physical form lies comatose.
As Anthony settles back in prison, he struggles under the weight of his father's skepticism but clings to his assertion of innocence.
