Erasing Eden

In the days leading up to her wedding, Eden wrestles with anxiety about marriage. To cope, she records daily supportive messages for herself, affirming that she is doing the right thing.

To numb the surge of unresolved feelings, Eden drinks a full bottle of scotch. The act leaves her unsettled and uncertain about proceeding with the wedding.

Eden wakes in the desert with no memory of the night before and is covered in cuts and bruises, including a broken jaw. Strangers mistake her for a homeless person or a meth addict, increasing her confusion and fear.

A seizure caused by the head injury prompts a reluctant sheriff to escort her to a hospital. The situation highlights her vulnerability as she struggles to communicate.

At the hospital, doctors repair her broken jaw. An insurance problem leaves her with no further help, creating a sense of abandonment and instability.

Because of the insurance issue, Eden is offered no further assistance and is dropped off in Skid Row, still in a revealing hospital gown. She must navigate the city’s harsh environment alone.

A biker named Sam helps her to a local shelter run by a religious pastor. The shelter provides a brief respite from the street’s dangers and offers a glimmer of safety.

After spending time at the shelter, Eden leaves and finds a scooter, wandering the streets and facing various dangerous situations. The search for a way back home continues.

Despite the perilous journey, she resolves that it’s time to return home. This decision signals a shift toward reclaiming some sense of normalcy.

Having picked up her wedding dress from the store, Eden goes to her apartment and contemplates the upcoming ceremony. Her doubt about marrying Christopher remains unresolved.

In an attempt to convince herself she loves him enough to marry, she imagines Christopher in a private moment. This reflection leaves her unsettled and unsure about the decision.

Christopher finally receives a reply from Eden, but the ceremony proceeds on the beach. Eden arrives at the shoreline, watches from a distance, and ultimately decides not to go through with the wedding.

Still in her wedding dress, Eden goes to a tattoo parlor and gets the right side of her face marked with a cross bearing the words 'RIP Christopher.' The act cements her break with the envisioned future.
