Emergency Landing

Doc Williams and his friend Jerry Barton have created a wireless remote control to pilot an aircraft. They struggle to interest investors in the invention. A model aircraft buzzes Lambert's golf course, catching the attention of millionaire George Lambert, who arranges a formal test.

Lambert is fascinated by the model and sets up a real test of the device. Betty, Lambert's daughter, is unimpressed and is drenched when the model lands in a puddle on the golf course. The incident foreshadows the tensions to come between the family and the invention.

Jerry takes a real aircraft aloft and switches to remote control. Army observers doubt that Jerry is flying the plane, so he parachutes out to prove the point. The device is not yet perfected, and the aircraft crashes, drawing the attention of foreign agents at Lambert Aircraft.

The failure shows the remote control isn't perfected, and Doc and Jerry return to Arizona to refine the device. They work toward improving reliability to avoid future disasters. The crash is observed by undercover foreign agents who are monitoring Lambert Aircraft.

Meanwhile, Betty declares she wants to go to Hollywood with Aunt Maude. When their vehicle runs out of petrol near Indian Springs, they plot to siphon petrol from an aerodrome beacon to continue their trip. Their misadventure brings them into conflict with Jerry, who catches them.

Jerry, a Federal Aviation Administration official, arrests the two sisters and takes them to Doc Williams's house while they await Judge Gildersleeve. The sisters fear the imagined harsh sentences of the judge. Jerry telegraphs Lambert to ask permission to teach Betty a lesson.

Aunt Maude overhears the boys' scheme and supports it, arguing that Betty deserves a proper comeuppance. She convinces everyone that the lesson can be delivered in a lighthearted way. The plan deepens the comedy while the espionage thread brews in the background.

Two undercover foreign agents hijack a newly designed Lambert bomber being tested at Lambert Field. The bomber crashes nearby, and one agent survives and makes his way to Doc and Jerry's house, pretending he was in an automobile accident. The plot thickens as the agents pursue the device and its inventors.

The agent reveals the truth, hijacking Doc's aircraft and taking Betty and Maude hostage. Doc and Jerry realize the danger and scramble to regain control. The two girls remain captive aboard the hijacked plane.

The remote control device installed on Doc's aircraft finally functions, allowing Doc and Jerry to land safely and capture the agent. Betty and Maude are unharmed but shaken by the ordeal. The victory marks a turning point in their struggle against espionage.

The real Judge Gildersleeve appears to adjudicate the girls' misadventures and fines them for their actions. The courtroom spectacle provides comic relief after the high-stakes espionage plot. The sisters learn there are consequences for reckless actions.
