As the celestial calendar marked the transition from 1987 to 2491, NASA astronaut Captain William “Buck” Rogers found himself aboard the space shuttle Ranger 3. Unknown to him, he was in a state of cryogenic slumber for a staggering 504 years. This mysterious phenomenon remained unsolved until 2491, when the Draconian flagship, helmed by Princess Ardala and her loyal aide Kane (who once roamed the Earth), stumbled upon Buck’s dormant spacecraft while on their way to a trade conference on the planet below.

Upon awakening, Buck was met by the captivating gaze of Princess Ardala, who harbored a significant attraction for him. Yet it was Kane who had the ulterior motives, orchestrating Buck’s return to his ship, setting him on a path that would change his existence.

Unbeknownst to Buck, the seemingly friendly Draconians had sinister designs—planning to conquer Earth through deceptive pirate assaults on its shipping operations. By implanting a homing beacon in Buck’s shuttle, they plotted to bypass the planet’s defenses, paving their way for an invasion. As Buck was guided through the security perimeter by Colonel Wilma Deering, he gradually began to uncover unsettling truths: Earth had been reshaped after a nuclear apocalypse that had obliterated much of its civilization. The landscape was devastated, but hope glimmered in the form of New Chicago, a sanctuary amidst the expansive desolation.

During his exploration of this altered world, Buck encountered Dr. Elias Huer, the enigmatic leader of the Earth Defense Directorate, and the AI known as Dr. Theopolis. Together, they aimed to assist him in acclimating to his new reality. Buck also befriended Twiki, a clever robot drone who would prove to be an unexpected ally in his quest to unveil the truth behind the Draconians’ schemes. As Buck’s understanding of his situation began solidifying, he found himself embroiled in a battle for humanity’s survival against alien domination, with the fate of Earth hanging in precarious balance.

In the midst of grappling with the Draconians’ motives, Buck grew increasingly doubtful about their sincerity, sensing that a darker agenda lurked beneath the surface. Ignoring the cautions from those around him, his innate curiosity urged him to explore beyond the safety of the Inner City, in search of solid proof to confirm or dispel his concerns. This journey led him to the ruins of old Chicago, where he discovered the grave of his parents, marking a poignant moment in his quest. Subsequently, he found himself in desperate need of Wilma and her battalion’s assistance to escape from dangerous mutants lurking in the wasteland.

After Buck returned to the Inner City, a Draconian tracking device was found in his ship, leading to accusations of espionage and a death sentence. Resolute in his innocence, Buck asserted he was merely an unwitting pawn in the Draconians’ game. With Wilma’s timely intervention, Dr. Huer facilitated a critical meeting between Buck, Princess Ardala, and Kane aboard the Draconian flagship. During a diplomatic gathering, chaos erupted as pirate ships attacked, which turned out to be marauders. In a decisive moment, Buck showcased his prowess by single-handedly annihilating the attackers, thereby earning Wilma’s admiration.

That evening, Ardala extended a tempting invitation for Buck to accompany her to the Draconia, presenting him with a chance to delve deeper into the Draconians’ plans. Under the spell of Ardala’s charm, Buck managed to explore the ship, unraveling the storyline of marauders preparing for an attack on Earth. Unbeknownst to him, Dr. Theopolis and Twiki, who were discreetly tracking Buck, soon converged with him on the Draconia, raising alarms for Earth’s defense systems.

In a swift reaction to the imminent threat, Wilma mobilized the planet’s starfighters for a counteroffensive against the Draconia. Simultaneously, Buck took matters into his own hands, sabotaging the marauder fleet while engaging in a fierce conflict against Tigerman, Ardala’s formidable protector. As the Draconia faced catastrophic damage, Buck, Dr. Theopolis, and Twiki were successfully extricated from the peril by Wilma, just before the ship descended into chaos. In the end, Ardala and Kane narrowly escaped the destruction aboard an emergency shuttle, with Kane’s promise of revenge against Buck looming in the future.
