Dinner in America

The film opens with Simon in a disoriented state due to medication, struggling with a lackluster meal. His troubled state is highlighted when a curious worker questions him about his side effects, which leads to him heaving onto his plate after noticing a drooling girl nearby.

Simon attends a disheartening meeting at his office regarding compensation from a drug trial. Frustrated by the low payout, he confronts his doctor aggressively, expressing his discontent with vulgar language.

Unexpectedly crossing paths with the drooling girl again, Simon takes the initiative to walk her home on a quiet Sunday. This kind gesture leads him into a chaotic dinner at her house, where he inadvertently sets her family's bushes ablaze.

We are introduced to Patty, a socially awkward girl facing constant bullying from jocks. After experiencing mockery at her pet store job and feeling dismissed by her family, she enjoys a moment of escape through her favorite punk band, *Psyops*.

Simon's day takes a turn when he struggles to cash a check at the bank and ends up confronting drug dealers for more supplies. He also discovers a mysterious black envelope addressed to 'John Q. Public,' raising his curiosity.

After narrowly escaping a police chase, Simon finds Patty in an alley. They bond over their shared past in a music appreciation class, and Patty agrees to keep Simon’s whereabouts a secret, deepening their connection.

In an effort to stay under the radar, Simon pretends to be a missionary while staying with Patty's family. This act of deception allows him to remain close to Patty as their relationship begins to flourish.

As their friendship grows, Simon learns about Patty's crush on *John Q* and her dreams of attending a *Psyops* concert. Upon realizing that the black envelopes are love letters she wrote to *John Q*, he becomes frustrated and jumps out of a window.

The plot thickens as Simon and Patty decide to team up to take revenge on the jocks who bully her. Their comical and humiliating plan involves a dead cat, showcasing their newfound camaraderie and desire for justice.

Following a confrontation with Patty's boss, Simon and Patty make significant strides in their romantic relationship. They steal intimate moments together amidst the chaos, revealing their growing affection.
