In the 1980s Madurai, Kodumpavi Ganesan adopts Vetri, the son of Kalyani Thevar and his pregnant wife. At the same time, Kalyani Thevar's daughter gives birth to a baby girl. This moment cements a blended family that will be torn apart by violence.

Tensions within the family explode when Ganesan stabs Kalyani Thevar and slits his throat, killing him. The brutal act cements a blood feud that will haunt Vetri and his relatives. The murder reshapes the power dynamics of the clan.

Present-day Vetri lives in a casteist, prideful joint family with six sisters and their husbands, with Pechi acting as a mother figure. He becomes a lawyer, but his temper leads to frequent clashes, even as his family supports him as the clan's first advocate. The tension between duty and vengeance begins to simmer.

At the court, Vetri and his family witness Ganesan stabbing and killing a man named Veeran. The act demonstrates Ganesan's reach and brutality and steels Vetri's resolve. This courtroom violence becomes a catalyst for Vetri's future choices.

In a mall, Munna sexually harasses Vetri's niece, prompting Vanitha to respond and later be abducted by Munna. The kidnapping escalates the feud and pulls Vetri deeper into a violent cycle. The incident sets off a chain of retaliations that targets the family.

During the unfolding turmoil, Vetri falls in love with Madhu, who returns his affection. Their budding romance offers Vetri a personal anchor amid chaos. This relationship motivates him to seek a lawful path even as violence intensifies around him.

Vanitha is drugged and gang-raped in a warehouse by Munna and Deivam's men after being kidnapped. The following day, Vanitha's parents are murdered by Munna and his accomplices. Vetri learns the truth and is determined not to spare the culprits.

Vetri confronts the criminals and brutally murders Deivam and Munna. This act marks a drastic shift from pursuing justice through law to taking vigilante action. The violence further inflames Ganesan's desire for revenge.

With Vetri's actions increasing the blood feud, Ganesan shaves his head and beard, performs his adopted son's funeral rites, and swears to kill Vetri. The ritual signals the collapse of peace and the escalation toward further bloodshed. The family watches anxiously as revenge tightens its grip.

Vetri is sent to Madurai Central Prison, where his family mourns his absence. Munna's father hires assassins to kill him, leading to a violent confrontation near the prison. Vetri fights them off, surviving the onslaught and continuing the feud from behind bars.

Ganesan learns of Vetri's murder attempt, kills Munna's father, and dumps his body in front of Vetri's house. The brutal display serves as a chilling warning and deepens the clan’s blood debt. The act solidifies the vendetta between Ganesan and Vetri's faction.

Months later, Vetri defeats Ganesan's goons, then beheads Ganesan and places the head inside Pechi's refrigerator before Pechi and her husband's funeral. Vanitha marries, and she looks at Vetri, seeing her father’s soul crying as the film ends. The closing image seals Vetri's transformation from avenger to tormented guardian.
