Corporate warfare lies at the heart of this drama, tracing the relentless power play between two food-and-beverage empires: the Sehgal Group of Industries (SGI), led by Vinay Sehgal [Rajat Kapoor], and the Marwah Group of Industries (MGI), steered by Dharmesh Marwah [Raj Babbar]. The saga zeroes in on SGI’s vice president, Nishigandha “Nishi” Dasgupta [Bipasha Basu], a sharp strategist who becomes a pivotal figure in the corporate tug-of-war. Ritesh [Kay Kay Menon], Vinay’s brother‑in‑law, later steps in as senior vice president, adding another layer of family ties to the cutthroat competition.
A political boost accelerates SGI’s ambitions when Ashwini, a Vinay-backed politician, rises to the role of Union Finance Minister, paving the way for a lucrative partnership with Friscon, a global food-products giant. In a tense CII meeting, state Finance Minister Gulabrao signals a public-sector unit sale, triggering a fierce bidding war between SGI and MGI. Dharmesh Sedges the political wires with Gulabrao, and the PSU lands with MGI, leaving Vinay dismayed but undeterred.
Nishi becomes a central chess piece as she gets close to Pervez Merchant [Sandeep Mehta], the MGI CEO, charming him in a way that unlocks crucial data from his laptop. She discovers a crucial deception: Dharmesh has been feeding the media a story that MGI plans to manufacture mineral water, when in truth the project is a mint-based soft drink. In a bold preemptive move, SGI announces its own mint drink, “Just Chill,” signaling a direct challenge to MGI’s launch. Dharmesh swiftly traces the leak to Pervez and fires him, tightening the pressure around the rival camp.
Ten days before the launch, Vinay learns that the FDA has found a large quantity of pesticides in Just Chill. He pushes forward with a bribe to the FDA, even as the SGI CEO Naveen resigns in protest. The drink becomes a phenomenal success, but internal intrigue intensifies as a rival within SGI resents Ritesh being groomed as the next CEO and leaks the pesticide secret to Dharmesh, who, with Gulabrao, amplifies the controversy in the media. A raid on SGI plants follows and a legal case targets the Sehgal family.
To weather the storm, Vinay decides to shoulder the blame by designating an SGI employee outside the Sehgal line to take the fall, and Nishi is chosen for this role. Ritesh is called by his sister Chhaya Sehgal to persuade Nishi to sacrifice for the company; he reluctantly agrees, convinced that she would be released after the Inquiry Commission completes its work. Amid foreign investor pressure on Friscon, Ashwini is urged to settle the dispute to prevent capital flight, and mediation begins, with Dharmesh and Vinay agreeing to retract some NGO-driven accusations and to limit Friscon’s influence. Yet Gulabrao’s stance hardens, making Nishi’s release a political liability he cannot bear as elections loom.
Meanwhile, a personal storm erupts when Ritesh discovers that Nishi is pregnant with his child. He escalates his threats, insisting that Nishi must be freed within 48 hours or he will reveal Vinay’s vulnerabilities to the media. The following day, Ritesh is found dead at the bottom of his apartment terrace—an apparent suicide, though suspicions linger about foul play. The film closes with a sobering note from the narrator: Dharmesh and Vinay continue to navigate a world where emotions are sidelined in the pursuit of power, while Nishi becomes a lasting symbol of the cost of corporate warfare. Two years later, she remains steadfast in the fight for justice, raising her child as she presses on with the case.
Key figures and dynamics are kept in sharp relief throughout, with the story threading ambition, loyalty, and the human price of boardroom battles through a web of alliances, betrayals, and high-stakes decisions.
