Clean

In Utica, New York, we are introduced to Clean, a garbage truck driver who collects usable parts during his route. He works in a deteriorating urban neighborhood, plagued by crime and neglect, while trying to salvage a purpose in his life after a devastating personal loss.

Clean is haunted by the tragic death of his daughter, which lingers in his mind and affects his daily life. Since his divorce, he has isolated himself, living alone in a workshop filled with memories, attempting to find solace through odd jobs and repairs.

Clean prepares a meal for his teenage neighbor, Dianda, who has been struggling due to service cuts affecting her school transportation. After learning about her situation, he offers her a ride, trying to alleviate his guilt over the loss of his own daughter.

While on his garbage route near a seafood restaurant owned by Michael, Clean witnesses a drug trafficking deal unfold in which Michael discusses being shorted on cocaine. Unfazed, Clean continues his work, unaware of the danger that surrounds him.

Upon delivering his deceased daughter's bike to Dianda, Clean is confronted by her grandmother, Ethel, who is suspicious of Clean's intentions. Clean explains his actions as an attempt to relieve his guilt, but Ethel insists that he is a kind person despite his protests.

Michael brutally murders one of his partners for shorting him on cocaine, demonstrating the violent life he leads. Mikey, Michael's son, witnesses this horrific event and is left in shock, illustrating the cycle of violence within the family.

Clean, while dealing with a broken-down car in a bad neighborhood, is ambushed by a group of thugs. They knock him unconscious, and Clean wakes up in a hospital, reinforcing the dangerous world surrounding him.

On a paid leave, Clean spots Dianda hanging out with thugs and attempts to steer her back home. Despite their confrontational attitude, Clean's appeal eventually convinces Dianda to leave with him, highlighting the challenges of his protective intentions.

Clean discovers Dianda being force-fed drugs and alcohol by the thugs in an abandoned building. In a surge of fury, he uses a pipe wrench to take them down, rescuing Dianda and exposing the dangerous influence of Michael’s gang.

Michael learns of Clean's identity and orders a corrupt police officer to kill Dianda and her grandmother. This revelation escalates the deadly tension and highlights the lengths Michael will go to protect his territory.

Clean tries to escape the city with Dianda and Ethel, but they quickly realize they are being followed. After a frantic drive, they stop at a diner, where Clean must confront Michael's henchmen, further intensifying the stakes.

Determined to protect Dianda and Ethel, Clean returns to the neighborhood prepared for a showdown with Michael. He gears up, collecting weapons and prepares to confront his past and the criminals that now threaten his new friends.

During the confrontation, a police officer discovers that Clean is a feared former assassin known as 'The Grim Reaper.' This revelation comes at a pivotal moment, as his violent past comes back to haunt him and shapes the outcome of his current struggle.

Clean crashes his garbage truck into Michael's home, leading to a violent shootout. In a tense climax, Clean faces off against both Michael and unexpected threats from his own son, Mikey, showcasing the turbulent family dynamics at play.

In the aftermath of Clean's battle with Michael, the once dangerous neighborhood is now filled with children playing safely in the streets. Clean's act of bravery leads to a newfound peace, leaving Dianda hopeful as she sees a garbage truck, symbolizing a brighter future.
