Chal Mere Bhai tells the story of two brothers, Vikram “Vicky” Oberoi, Sanjay Dutt, who runs a sprawling family business, and Prem Oberoi, Salman Khan, an aspiring actor chasing a dream that often clashes with the family’s expectations. Into this world steps Sapna Mehra, Karisma Kapoor, an orphan who has just moved to Bombay and is staying with relatives while she searches for a place in the bustling city. Despite a lack of formal experience, Sapna’s raw determination catches Balraj Oberoi’s eye, and the stern patriarch decides to hire her as Vicky’s secretary, hoping her energy could bring fresh life to the enterprise.

Prem’s passion for acting delights his heart but rankles Balraj, who would rather see Prem join the family business. Yet the older generation’s doubts are tempered by the support of Prem’s grandmother and Vicky, who believes in giving his brother space to pursue his own path. Sapna’s presence also stirs the household; her uncle, a theater director, brings a different energy into the mix, and Shakti Kapoor adds color to the social circle surrounding the Oberois.

Initially, Sapna is clumsy and inefficient at work, often testing Vicky’s patience with missteps. Yet when a dangerous attack unfolds after a long day, Sapna’s quick thinking and composure save his life, revealing a sharper mind beneath the surface. The incident softens Vicky’s stance, and a short vacation to the family’s farmhouse becomes a turning point. There, Sapna’s warmth and sincerity win over Vicky’s relatives, and Prem and Sapna begin to develop genuine feelings for each other.

Meanwhile, a family dynamic tension comes to a head: Balraj, guided by a grandmotherly influence and social expectations, envisions a Sapna-Vicky union. Yet this planned arrangement collides with Prem’s own desires and the unspoken wound of Vicky’s past with Piya, Sonali Bendre, who remains a poignant memory for Vicky. As the wedding edges closer, Vicky confronts the truth and the ensemble faces a reckoning. Sapna and Prem’s bond endures, and the two siblings reach an understanding that honors their loyalties without erasing their own aspirations. The film closes with a subtle note of possibility: Vicky, having seen how complex love can be, may open a new chapter when Pooja, Twinkle Khanna, steps into his office, signaling that life—and love—often has surprises in store beyond the central triangle.
