Ching Sing, Richard Ng Yiu-Hon, is a hardworking father who raises his children after his wife dies when they were young. He has three daughters and a son: Siu Tung, Siu Nam, Siu Sze, and Siu Pei. To push his kids toward stable marriages, he fakes a terminal illness and invites their boyfriends to join them for dinner, testing how far they’ll go to please him and keep the family together.
Siu Tung, Brigitte Lin, is a dedicated police officer. She meets a male prostitute, Simon Tse Sai, Tony Leung Ka-fai, and agrees to let him pretend to be her boyfriend for one day so she can present a respectable image to her father. Simon, initially in it for the money, finds himself truly drawn to Siu Tung.
