The film kicks off in Lithuania, where Drew Thayer (Justin Theroux) is amid a covert mission. Things go awry when he's spotted by his targets, leading to a tense chase through the streets. He fights back, successfully dispatching his pursuers before storming into the home of his primary target and completely obliterating him.
Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, Audrey Stockman (Mila Kunis) is surprised with a 30th birthday bash organized by her co-workers and her bestie, Morgan Freeman (Kate McKinnon). During the celebration, the condescending Tess (Lolly Adefope) pries into Audrey's relationship with Drew, making unfair assumptions that put Audrey in a tough spot since she's too ashamed to admit that they’ve split.
Later, Drew tries to get in touch after ignoring her calls, but when Audrey picks up, he chooses not to respond. Morgan snatches the phone and sends a message to Drew on Audrey's behalf, declaring that they're about to purge his belongings. Subsequent flashbacks reveal how Audrey first crossed paths with Drew at the same bar a year prior, where sparks flew between them.
Jumping back to the present, while Audrey is working at a grocery store, she encounters the charming Sebastian Henshaw (Sam Heughan). However, he reveals himself as an agent and comes with Duffer (Hasan Minhaj), who informs her that Drew is, in fact, a CIA agent—a shocking revelation for Audrey. They instruct her to report any communications with Drew, which she half-heartedly does.
Rushing home, Audrey attempts to share her wild news with Morgan, who has her own story about spending the night with a sleazy guy named Viktor (Dustin Demri-Burns). Suddenly, Drew pops up in her room, and as Audrey confronts him about his true identity, danger looms when a sniper’s laser dot appears on his forehead. Gunfire erupts, and the trio is forced into a frenzied escape. Drew hands Audrey a second-place trophy, telling her it contains something crucial that a mysterious organization called Highland desires, and insists they must meet in Vienna to hand it over to someone codenamed Verne. Unfortunately, Viktor reveals his dark motives and shoots Drew, resulting in Morgan pushing him out of the window to his demise. They hastily flee the apartment.
Upon arrival in Vienna, after stuffing their bags with various trophies and destroying their phones to avoid detection, they meet their driver Lukas (Kev Adams). However, danger is very close as they are relentlessly pursued by villains on motorcycles, resulting in Lukas tragically losing his life. Audrey's quick thinking is put to the test as she takes control of the vehicle, outrunning their attackers in a gripping sequence, leading to a motorcycle crash.
The duo smartly navigates to a restaurant in search of Verne, only to encounter Sebastian masquerading as the intended recipient. As he attempts to explain the peril they are in, a comedic blunder leads Audrey to inadvertently shout Verne's name, drawing unwanted attention from armed patrons. Amid the chaos, Sebastian fights valiantly while Audrey bravely wields a fallen assassin's weapon, aiding their escape from the restaurant.
To remain incognito while on the run, Audrey and Morgan steal passports from Australian tourists. Meanwhile, Sebastian and Duffer regroup, ultimately spilling the beans to Wendy (Gillian Anderson), their superior. Angry that Sebastian has botched the mission, Wendy directs the agents from a safe distance.
Amid their journey, Morgan reflects on her initial meeting with Drew and the hurtful comment he made about her flamboyant personality, revealing her struggles to Audrey, who fiercely supports her. They manage to crack open the trophy, uncovering a hidden flash drive, which Drew had concealed.
As they seek refuge, Morgan's father unknowingly dishes out dinner while the real Roger lies lifeless in the shower. Nadedja (Ivanna Sakhno), an assassin, interrupts their dinner with deadly demands for the flash drive. The ladies, quick on their feet, hide in the bathroom, exchanging secrets to buy themselves time. When Nadedja attacks, they find themselves helplessly knocked out.
Once regained consciousness, they find themselves bound, confronting Drew's parents—who shockingly turn out to be Russian spies determined to extract secrets from the girls. Throughout the encounter, they buy time by concocting absurd stories about Drew, only to discover that Sebastian and Duffer are outside readying an explosive solution to the confrontation, resulting in a frantic escape initiated by Sebastian.
With chaos all around, Morgan shows fierce resolve, managing to injure Nadedja. In the heated escape, Audrey reveals she has stowed away the flash drive in a most unexpected place, safeguarding it from their pursuers. As the journey intensifies with hits from the underworld, the trio must now outsmart the orchestrators behind the operation.
The ensuing chase leads them to an event where they have to disguise themselves, with Morgan being thrust into a precarious performance alongside Nadedja. Meanwhile, Audrey unexpectedly reunites with a surviving Drew, who grapples with her trust.
However, moments of tension unfold with his faux parents, leaving Drew's intentions questionable, igniting a ferocious struggle that results in a series of unexpected twists and turns, with police intervention ultimately sealing Drew’s fate.
In the aftermath, although Sebastian is unharmed, he and Audrey share a tender moment—a kiss that signifies everything they've faced together. As the story flips to the future, we see Audrey and Morgan moving forward into a promising journey, coupled with a rising career alongside Sebastian, taking on new villains as they plunge headfirst into an exhilarating new chapter filled with adventure.
