In Uganda, Mr. White introduces Steven Obanno to Le Chiffre, a private banker to terrorists. Obanno entrusts Le Chiffre with $100 million to invest. Using knowledge of an upcoming terrorist attack, Le Chiffre shorts Skyfleet's stock.

Bond destroys an embassy in Madagascar and captures Mollaka, whom he then kills. MI6 chief M criticises Bond for causing an international incident. Information on Mollaka's phone leads Bond to the Bahamas and to Dimitrios.

Mollaka's phone provides a link to Dimitrios, directing Bond to the Bahamas where the pursuit continues. Dimitrios is a corrupt Greek official who hired Mollaka to bomb Skyfleet for Le Chiffre. Bond begins closing in on Dimitrios.

Bond defeats Dimitrios in a high-stakes poker game, winning his vintage Aston Martin. He seduces Dimitrios's wife Solange, complicating the case and motivation. He then follows Dimitrios to Miami to continue the hunt.

Bond fights and kills Dimitrios after an attempted assassination linked to Skyfleet. He tracks down the bomb-maker hired by Dimitrios and stops the destruction of Skyfleet's prototype airliner. The thwarted attack secures Skyfleet stock and escalates Le Chiffre's pressure.

With Skyfleet stock secured, Le Chiffre learns Obanno's money has been lost and realises a leak compromised his plan. In the aftermath, Le Chiffre tortures Solange to death to extract information and recover his funds. The stakes rise as Bond's pursuit continues.

Le Chiffre organizes a Texas hold ’em tournament at the Casino Royale in Montenegro to recoup his losses. MI6 assigns Bond, the agency's best poker player, to participate with Vesper Lynd overseeing the $10 million buy-in, and René Mathis serves as their contact. Obanno's men attack Bond during the event, but Bond counters and advances.

Bond's initial stake is jeopardized when Le Chiffre is tipped off about Bond's tell, causing him to lose a large sum. Vesper initially refuses to authorize additional funds, but Felix Leiter from the CIA steps in to back Bond in exchange for Le Chiffre's arrest. Valenka, Le Chiffre's partner, poisons Bond's drink, but Vesper rescues him and the game continues.

Bond regains his footing and the players finish the tournament with Bond emerging victorious. The win provides Le Chiffre a new incentive to force Bond's compliance. Bond's triumph also curses Le Chiffre with a new plan to entrap him.

Le Chiffre kidnaps Vesper to trap Bond and takes them to an abandoned ship. He tortures Bond to learn the password to the bank account holding his winnings. Bond resists, staying true to his mission and protecting Vesper.

Mr. White bursts in and kills Le Chiffre, but spares Bond and Vesper. The immediate danger subsides, but the conspiracy continues to loom over Bond's life. Bond begins to confront the broader organization behind Le Chiffre's operations.

Bond recovers in hospital with Vesper at his side and Mathis under arrest for tipping Le Chiffre. He resigns from MI6 and sails with Vesper to Venice, where M reveals that the winnings were never transferred to the British treasury. Bond realizes that Vesper may have betrayed him.

Bond traces Mr. White to a lakeside estate on Lake Como and shoots him in the leg to disable him. He introduces himself with the iconic line 'The name's Bond, James Bond' as the confrontation intensifies. The confrontation sets the stage for Bond's continued fight against the organization.
