Kero and Yue are contacted by Eriol Hiiragizawa from England, who explains the Nothing was created to balance Sakura’s negative magic. The Nothing was released because Sakura altered the cards’ power from Clow Reed’s to her own, causing parts of Tomoeda to be erased with each theft. The stakes and origin of the threat become clearer.
