The story follows five young women employed by the tourism bureau of a quiet provincial town. When the town resurrects its quirky “micro‑nation” tourism scheme—originally launched during Japan’s bubble‑economy boom—the bureau appoints the women as honorary “monarchs,” serving as tourism ambassadors who showcase local attractions and help revive the community’s visitor trade.
