Abbas Ali lives in Chandni Chowk with his sister Sania Ali, a theatre art director who is trying to piece together a new play. Their ancestral property has been snatched away by deception by relatives, and Abbas has already sold his taxi to fund a string of court battles. When he loses the case due to a hapless lawyer, Abbas explodes in the courtroom, brutalizing the lawyer before being arrested. He is bailed out by their family friend, Shastri, who sees an opportunity to help them start anew.

The Shastri they trust convinces Abbas and Sania to move to Ranakpur, a quiet village where a chance job awaits him at the estate of the formidable and principled landowner, Prithviraj Raghuvanshi. Prithviraj is a man who prizes truth above all, hates liars, and dispenses harsh but fair justice. He wrestles with a stubborn longing to master English, even as he runs the village with an iron will. His cousin, Vikrant Raghuvanshi, remains a constant obstacle, pushing a proposed power project in the area that would bring prosperity to Ranakpur but also stoke old feuds.

Upon arriving, Abbas meets Ravi Shastri—the son of Shastri—who runs a lively drama company with a circle of friends. Ravi invites Sania to join the troupe as its art director, planting the seeds for a future where Abbas’s quiet talents could flourish beyond survival. Early on, Abbas discovers a temple that sits on the border between Ranakpur and Vikrant’s stronghold of Kherwada, a site long disputed and locked away. The two warring clans are known to clash whenever the temple’s fate is stirred up.

A dramatic moment arrives when a child falls into the temple well. Abbas, breaking the temple’s lock to rescue the child, earns Vikrant’s men’ ire, but Prithviraj intervenes, driving Vikrant’s crew back and publicly praising Abbas for opening the gates. This act earns Abbas a measure of respect, and Prithviraj soon offers him a job as a supervisor at a generous monthly salary of Rs 35,000. Abbas is hesitant to accept at first, because the wage is tempting but his city prospects feel uncertain, yet the stability of Prithviraj’s offer is hard to ignore. Ravi’s role in this shift becomes clear when he hides Abbas’s identity by telling Prithviraj that Abbas is actually named Abhishek Bachchan, a maneuver meant to steer clear of potential religious controversy after the temple incident.

As the tale unfolds, Prithviraj’s sister, Prachi Desai, returns from the city, and the two brothers are fiercely protective of her. On Ammunition-quick wheels of fate, her car suffers a puncture on the way back, and Vikrant uses the moment to seize a chance at further manipulation by bringing her into his palace. Abbas and Prithviraj join forces to rescue her from Vikrant’s clutches, reinforcing the uneasy alliance that has formed between Abbas’s dual life and Prithviraj’s strict code.

Ravi and his friends scramble to adapt when Prithviraj spots Abbas celebrating Eid, unaware of Abbas’s Muslim identity. To avoid a religious furor, Abbas and Ravi cook up a cover—Abbas is portrayed as a performer who can teach Kathak, and Prithviraj hires him to instruct his sister Radhika Raghuvanshi in dance. The arrangement binds Abbas more firmly to the Prithviraj household and pulls him deeper into a web of lies and loyalties. To fulfill Prithvi’s insistence on a mother figure for Abbas’s story, the troupe arranges for Zohra, an exotic dancer, to play Madhumati, Abbas’s supposed mother. Zohra initially declines, and the gang frantically searches for other women to fill the role. When the moment arrives, Zohra steps in, though Ravi’s colleagues loudly insist they can also claim to be his mother, and Abbas adds a few half-truths to keep the lie alive.

Meanwhile, Prithviraj meets Sania and discovers she bears a striking resemblance to his late ex-girlfriend, Apeksha. The echo of that past romance complicates his growing feelings, and Sania’s presence in Ranakpur intensifies the tension. Radhika eventually pieces together that Abbas and Abhishek Bachchan are one and the same person, a revelation that Sania confirms, explaining that the deception was born from a desperate need to secure their future and their family’s welfare.

As the scheme tightens, a quiet romance blooms between Prithviraj and Sania, and Prithvi decides to back Ravi’s ambitious theater project, with Sania cast as the lead. Yet suspicions linger. Makhaan, Prithvi’s trusted aide, played by Makhaan, grows increasingly convinced that Abbas and Abhishek Bachchan are the same man, pressing his theory with stubborn persistence. Radhika and Abbas fall in love, complicating the already tangled loyalties. Vikrant abducts Radhika again, forcing Prithviraj to confront Abbas with the accusation of involvement. Abbas and Abhishek both deny such claims, and the rescue mission becomes a joint endeavor as Abbas proves his commitment by standing beside Prithviraj.

In a pivotal turn, Prithviraj sees the sincerity of Abbas and recognizes the depth of his sacrifice. He proposes a solution: Abbas should marry Radhika, stabilizing the family’s future, but Abbas insists he cannot marry until Sania is wed. Prithvi then suggests that he marry Sania himself, hoping to cement a bond that could unite the two families. Sania, however, confesses she cannot marry out of a sense of love and honesty—she does not love Prithvi. To his shock, Prithvi finally understands that Sania’s hesitation stems from the memory of Apeksha, his late ex-girlfriend, and not from any lack of feeling for him.

The tension shifts again as Sania explains her inability to marry Prithvi, and Prithvi, moved by her honesty, begins to see the larger picture. The truth surfaces when Makhaan overhears the confessional and convinces Prithviraj that Abbas has been playing along, using a veneer of lies to protect the life and dignity of others around him. Confronted with the conflict, Prithviraj initially rails at Abbas, but Abbas interjects with a heartfelt defense: the lies were a necessary shield to safeguard a life and to uphold the family’s dignity in the face of relentless pressure.

In the end, Prithviraj softens, accepting Abbas’s motives, and offers forgiveness grounded in respect and loyalty. The trio—Abbas, Sania, and Prithviraj—navigates a complex landscape of love, duty, and truth, where personal sacrifice and the weight of family obligations collide. As the village ecosystem continues to evolve, the actors’ choices reflect a larger moral question: when does loyalty become loyalty to a lie, and when does honesty demand a courageous, even painful, admission of the truth? The story closes on a note of quiet resolve, with each character stepping forward to claim their place in a world where love, honor, and responsibility must coexist, even if the path there is paved with compromise.
