Blackout

Christopher Pelley loses his sight in an accident and is scheduled for an operation to restore his vision. He faces the procedure with uncertainty about the outcome. The operation is a turning point that will drive the investigation later.

One night a taxi driver drops Pelley at the wrong address. He enters the house and finds a body and a ring on the floor. Realising he is blind, the three killers decide to knock him out and leave him unconscious.

Pelley undergoes the operation to restore his sight and regains his vision. The recovery marks the start of his independent investigation. He still must uncover the truth behind the earlier incident.

Returning to the area to investigate, Pelley goes to the house and discovers Patricia Dale living there with her father. From a photo on the piano, he realises the ring belongs to Patricia's brother Norman. Norman had been presumed dead after a plane crash a year before.

Patricia agrees to investigate the mystery with Pelley and they decide to pursue the lead together. They plan to interview key witnesses to piece together what happened. Their collaboration marks a turning point in the investigation.

Chalky, Norman's friend, gives them leads and directs Pelley to a travel agency. There, Pelley meets Guy Sinclair and recognises his voice as one of the men who knocked him out. The discovery links the individuals to the same crime network.

It becomes clear that Sinclair, Mickey, and Otto run a smuggling ring. Pelley uncovers a coded book that incriminates all three men in the racket. The book provides the crucial evidence needed to target the gang.

Pelley tracks the crooks to an isolated house called The Grange and is captured by Mickey, who keeps him prisoner. The claustrophobic hold forces Pelley to rely on wit and memory as the stakes rise. He begins to plan an escape.

Pelley escapes with the help of Lila, Norman's girlfriend, who provides crucial aid. Lila is killed by Mickey before they can reach safety or share what she knows. The loss raises the danger as the gang tightens its grip on the case.

Patricia disappears after a midday message and Chalky, who has been assisting, is revealed to have worked with the gang all along. In a fatal mistake, the gang kills Chalky instead of Pelley. The misdirection complicates the hunt for the truth.

Pelley tracks down Patricia and finds her being held hostage at The Grange. He warns her father to contact the police as reinforcements close in. The tension peaks as the final confrontation approaches.

It is revealed that Norman is alive and the gang's ringleader, who faked his own death to avoid arrest. The body Pelley found earlier was a customs investigator. Pelley foils the gang as Norman dies trying to escape, and he and Patricia leave hand in hand.
