Blackout

An engineer who loses his sight in an accident and undergoes an operation to restore his vision. After regaining his sight, he uses keen deduction to uncover the truth behind a murder and a smuggling ring. He remains calm under pressure, relying on memory and persistence to connect clues the police miss.

Patricia Dale lives with her father and becomes involved in the case after she helps investigate the mystery surrounding her brother and the body found at the wrong address. She is brave, resourceful, and committed to uncovering the truth, even when danger arises. Her cooperation with Pelley drives much of the investigation and the eventual confrontation with the gang.

Chalky is introduced as Norman's friend who accompanies him the night he is believed dead. He provides leads to Pelley but is revealed to have been working with the gang all along, making him a deceptive ally. Chalky is killed by the gang during the pursuit, signifying the reach of their ruthlessness.

A thug and enforcer for the gang, Mickey aids in abducting Pelley and enforcing the criminals’ will. He embodies the menace at the heart of the smuggling operation and meets a violent fate when the plot unfolds.

A travel agency worker whose voice is identified by Pelley as one of the three men who knocked him out. Sinclair is part of the smuggling ring and helps operate the front business that moves the gang's illicit goods.

The gang's leader and mastermind behind the smuggling operation. Otto is ruthless and calculating, driving the scheme until Pelley closes in with help from the police. His downfall comes as the net tightens and a confrontation ensues.

Patricia's father, a protective figure who becomes a key link to the truth through his concern for his daughter and his willingness to cooperate with the investigation.

Lila is Norman's girlfriend who provides information to Pelley; she is killed by Mickey before they can speak to her, highlighting the gang's ruthlessness and the stakes for those who cross them.

Patricia's brother, long presumed dead after a plane crash, who is revealed to be alive and the ringleader of the gang. He faked his death to evade arrest and presides over the smuggling scheme from the shadows.
