Big City Greens the Movie: Spacecation

The Green family sets out on their road trip, anxious that this year will feel the same as last. They must drop off produce to Gwendolyn Zapp at BigTech, but Cricket is irritated by the routine. The mood is tense as they hit the road.

At BigTech, Zapp reveals she is farming on an asteroid and has built a space hotel. She notes that only the wealthy can access it, which rubs the Greens the wrong way. Her revelation seeds a plan that could change their vacation forever.

Zapp explains the farm bots are poorly programmed, arguing that her project needs hands-on management. She tries to recruit the Greens for the space venture, offering a lavish payoff. Bill declines, but Cricket begins to plot a deal.

Cricket negotiates a deal with Zapp, offering to farm the asteroid in exchange for a free stay at the hotel. She tells the family that the mission is a simulator to reassure them, and they start to believe it. They prepare to journey toward the asteroid.

During the travel, Bill is nearly sucked into space, and a dutiful astronaut named Colleen Voyd saves him just in time. The incident raises the stakes and makes the family question what they signed up for. Voyd's presence hints at real danger and real help.

Tilly befriends a small gooey creature called Cookie, who can destroy glass and other obstacles. The encounter is playful but tense, as the creature's powers are unpredictable. The friendship marks a lighter moment amid the looming crisis.

Cricket and Gramma Alice feel Voyd is interfering with their fun and decide to trap her in a cryo-pod. The tension within the ship grows as Voyd resists their plans. The action leaves the group divided on what counts as progress.

Upon reaching the asteroid farm, the Greens are attacked by farm bots. Tilly and Alice release Voyd to help defend their supplies. Voyd uses the only escape pod to save some produce back to Earth, buying time for their plan.

They discover a way to shut down the robots by manipulating an energy compound at the far end of the asteroid. Destroying the compound triggers a chain reaction that blows the silos and dislodges the entire asteroid from orbit. The threat becomes a full-scale space disaster.

Cricket and Bill argue about leadership in the crisis, exposing long-simmering tensions. The quarrel jeopardizes their mission and strains the family's cohesion. Cricket ends up disowning Bill as the situation spirals out of control.

Back on Earth, news broadcasts reveal the Greens' antics and Zapp's motives. Nancy and Gloria hustle to BigTech to understand what's happening, while Zapp reveals that her goal is to gloat over her former Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Kay, calling her dream a fantasy. The public learns that there is more at stake than a simple vacation.

The produce shipment arrives, and Mrs. Kay congratulates Zapp, though her satisfaction is hollow. Zapp realizes the asteroid is headed toward Big City and decides to flee to Mars. Nancy and Gloria coordinate a rescue with the help of Alice's robotic leg, while the Greens and Voyd start rallying the others.

Cricket and Bill reconcile and join the plan to save everyone. The group heads to the space hotel to use its tractor beam to pull the asteroid back. Remy helps coordinate the evacuations, and guests stream into escape pods. Tilly gives Cookie to Voyd as a farewell before departure.

The space hotel is destroyed in the process, but everyone escapes safely in the pods. The Greens decide to spend part of their vacation flying through space while they wait for rescue. The asteroid’s fate becomes secondary to their survival and newfound camaraderie.

During the credits, Gwendolyn is booed for abandoning Earth, while Voyd rises to become captain of the BigTech space fleet. The closing image hints at a new balance between ambition and responsibility.
