Champak Chaturvedi, Paresh Rawal, runs a bustling theatrical troupe in India where two eager actors, Bunty, Akshay Kumar, and Babla, Govinda, constantly clash over who should claim the hero’s part and who should take the villain’s. Their sparring escalates when Champak discovers Bunty has harassed the troupe’s leading lady, Anjali, Tanushree Dutta, and he is promptly punished. The mood shifts when the troupe lands a contract to stage 30 plays in Britain, arranged by Ravinder Taneja, Govardhan Asrani. On the day of departure, Anjali withdraws, forcing Champak to travel without a heroine and to hope he can recruit someone suitable abroad.

In London, Champak proclaims a bold stipulation: the person who brings him a heroinе will earn the main hero role. Babla and Bunty team up to hunt for a suitable lead, guided by Gullu, Rajpal Yadav. Their plan spirals into trouble when a suitcase is swapped by two men, and one of the bags contains heroin, turning Bunty and Babla into prime suspects in the eyes of the local police, led by Commissioner J. D. Mehra, Jackie Shroff. The two men who swapped the cases are revealed to be under the thumb of Manubhai Gandhi, Manoj Joshi, a builder with a drug-smuggling side hustle who sees the troupe as trouble waiting to happen.

To complicate matters further, Gandhi’s men recruit a pair of goons, Guru and Haka, who claim to know a woman living in Germany. Guru, played by Shakti Kapoor, and Haka, Razak Khan, push Bunty and Babla into a tense ride that ends with the pair escaping, even as Guru is left in a precarious position. In the course of the chaos, Bunty and Babla manage to recruit a woman named Nisha Chauhan, also known as “Munni,” who appears to suffer from suicidal tendencies after a dramatic roadside attempt. The actress who enters the troupe to fill the heroine’s shoes is Lara Dutta, and a complicated affection grows between Bunty and Nisha as they navigate danger, deception, and the pressure of performing abroad.

Nisha’s husband, Vikram Chauhan, Arbaaz Khan, arrives to reclaim his wife and takes her back to Liverpool. A few days later, a frantic Nisha phones Bunty and the others, leading them to her home where they discover her dead, her body engulfed in flames. Bunty glimpses Nisha again in the streets, but the sight is dismissed by others as a ghostly echo of the past. Rather than abandoning their plan, the troupe resolves to stage a play that does not depend on a heroine at all. On the night of the new performance, Champak spots Nisha in a restroom once more, and Vikram reappears with a gun. In a fatal misfire, Bunty shoots Vikram, killing him, and the trio quickly conceals Vikram’s body and Champak’s bloodstained kurta in an air-conditioned duct to avoid suspicion. They press on with the show, but Vikram’s body slides down the vents onto the stage, drawing Mehra’s scrutiny toward them.

Mehra’s investigation uncovers Champak’s kurta and Babla’s chain on Vikram’s body, and the trio are arrested. Gandhi’s men launch a chaotic distraction by attacking a police car with a grenade, allowing them all to flee. Bunty proposes that the best way to prove their innocence is to locate Nisha. They break into her house and learn that Nisha has booked a ticket to Mumbai under the name Aditi Desai. A quick check reveals that Sheetal, a friend of Nisha, purchased the ticket on her behalf. As the conspiracy widens, Gandhi, Khan, and their associates converge on the scene, bringing further chaos. In a dramatic turn, it’s revealed that Nisha’s life has been entangled with deception from Vikram, and that Aditi Desai is the real name behind the alias.

Mehra confronts the truth with a vengeance born from personal loss—Nisha, it turns out, was his sister, murdered in a bid to seize her wealth. He shoots Vikram in a dramatic revelation, while Aditi/Nisha seeks to tell the truth, only to become the focal point of a sprawling confrontation that erupts across the clock tower, the hospital, and the chaotic nexus where Gandhi’s men, Guru and Haka, Gullu, the taxi owner, and the police collide. Bees swarm and chase everyone away as a hospital rescue unfolds and the mechanical ladder falters under the weight of the group. In the end, most of the players are injured and admitted to the hospital. Mehra faces the fallout of his actions, returns the stolen passports to Champak’s party, and surrenders to the police, bringing the tangled affair to a close.
