Ranjeet Thadani [Rajat Kapoor] is a successful music producer married to Sheetal [Sarika], a gifted singer. On every Friday, the pair hosts a gathering that feels more like a ritual for a tight circle of friends who bring in what they call “talent,” a term they use to secretly ridicule the guests behind their backs. The thrill of these evenings is so addictive that they often skip family commitments just to keep the jokes and jabs flowing, creating a charged, glitzy atmosphere where laughter masks a tangle of egos and awkward dynamics.

One of Ranjeet’s friends crosses paths with Bharat Bhushan [Vinay Pathak], a bright, chatty Income Tax inspector who also moonlights as a self-promoting singer. He carries a scrapbook of his musical life, his eyes shining with the hopeful spark of someone who believes a single breakthrough could change everything. Bharat is kind-hearted and eager to help others, but his enthusiasm comes with a knack for unintentional chaos; his presence is funny for the watchers, yet potentially disruptive for those around him.

Friday arrives with a twist: Ranjeet’s back is badly sprained, pinning him to a chair and limiting his movements. Yet he still wants to meet Bharat to gauge the kind of entertainment he might bring to the party, curious about whether Bharat’s ambitions align with his own world of music. Before Bharat can step through the door, Sheetal leaves after a heated altercation with Ranjeet, setting the scene for a deeper emotional rift. When Ranjeet asks Bharat to call his family doctor, Dr. Shepherd [Tom Alter], a mix-up ensues and Bharat accidentally dials Suman Rao [Bhairavi Goswami], the woman who once shared a chapter of Ranjeet’s past.

Ranjeet’s impulse to gather information kicks into higher gear as Bharat tries to help by contacting Sheetal’s former partner, Anant Ghoshal [Milind Soman], under a false identity. Instead of delivering the reassurance Ranjeet seeks, Bharat ends up handing over Ranjeet’s landline number, tipping off Anant that there’s something to uncover. From there, the trail grows fuzzier: Anant reveals that Sheetal might have gone to Keval Arora, described in the tangled web as a sexfully provocative figure, complicating the search even further.

Into the labyrinth steps Asif Merchant [Ranvir Shorey], Bharat’s colleague and fellow inspector, a snobby cricket aficionado with a surprising fondness for Pakistan. Asif’s knowledge about Keval’s whereabouts adds a sharper edge to the chase, and his personality injects additional irony into the caper. Meanwhile, Suman Rao drops a blunt truth to Bharat: Ranjeet had invited him to play the fool and to have some fun at Bharat’s expense, turning Bharat’s lighthearted intentions into a personal sting.

Despite the mounting complications, Bharat remains determined to mend the rift between Ranjeet and Sheetal. He hopes to convey the depth of Ranjeet’s remorse and the genuine love he feels for Sheetal, aiming to heal the rift rather than widen it. Yet every attempt to set things right risks backfiring, as misunderstandings mushroom and plans derail in humorous fashion. In the end, the film resolves on a light, comic note that lands with a wink rather than a sigh, leaving the couple and their chaotic circle of friends with one more muddled, amusing twist than they started with.
