Three decades after the infamous Wonder World incident, Detective Axel Foley remains a key figure in the Detroit police force. Monitored by his loyal friend Deputy Chief Jeffrey Friedman, Axel is known for his tenacity and dedication to justice.

Axel embarks on a high-speed chase through Detroit as a gang of thieves targets the Detroit Red Wings' locker room during a critical game. This audacious act causes significant repercussions, putting pressure on the police department.

Following the chaotic events, police commissioner pressure mounts on Deputy Chief Jeffrey Friedman. Faced with the stress of the situation, Jeffrey considers retirement while encouraging Axel to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Jane.

Axel reaches out to his daughter Jane Saunders, who is now a defense attorney in Los Angeles. Unbeknownst to him, Jane is being mentored by Billy Rosewood, Axel's former colleague, who helps her in her current case involving a wrongful murder accusation.

Axel grows increasingly suspicious of Captain Cade Grant due to his ostentatiously wealthy lifestyle that seems inconsistent with his police salary. This prompts Axel to investigate Grant further, especially after Taggart defends him.
