This third installment of the Bad Boys franchise kicks off with Detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett tearing through the lively streets of Miami, pursued by fellow officers. Their destination is a hospital, where they rush to welcome Marcus’s daughter, Megan (Bianca Bethune), who has just given birth to a baby boy. Filled with joy, he discovers that the boy is named after him, a moment of pride that he cherishes as he holds his grandson close.
Meanwhile, in a Mexican prison, a frantic Isabel Aretas (Kate Del Castillo) is in the midst of an intense ritual that unexpectedly draws the attention of a guard. In a shocking turn of events, she overpowers the guard with a knife, and together with other inmates, she orchestrates a deadly ambush that costs her life. However, her son, Armando (played by Jacob Scipio), arrives just in time to wreak havoc and free Isabel, setting the stage for a calculated revenge against those responsible for her husband’s demise.
As Armando navigates the perilous underworld, he faces off against deceitful gangsters at the docks. When they attempt to cheat him, he retaliates brutally, offering a ruthless invitation to loyal followers. One gangster who steps up is Lorenzo ‘Zway-Lo’ Rodriguez (portrayed by Nicky Jam), marking a pivotal moment as Armando solidifies his position in this dangerous criminal hierarchy.
Back in Miami, Captain Howard and Mike’s former partner, Marcus, gather with their colleagues at a bar to celebrate Marcus’s new status as a grandfather. The evening takes a turn when Rita (Paola Nunez), now a lieutenant and Mike’s ex-girlfriend, reveals her new command over AMMO (Advanced Miami Metro Operations), a fresh team of officers ready to tackle crime with modern techniques. Marcus feels the weight of their aging bodies, urging Mike to embrace a quieter life, but Mike is reluctant to change.
The tension escalates as Armando makes a violent entrance, targeting Mike with a motorcycle ambush that leaves him critically wounded. As Marcus pleads for Mike’s recovery, promising to renounce violence, AMMO begins the hunt for Mike’s assailant. Isabel, meanwhile, fuels Armando’s thirst for vengeance, planning to prolong Mike’s suffering by eliminating targets linked to their shared past.
Fast forward six months: Megan marries Reggie, while Mike is on the mend. He seizes the moment to engage Marcus in a hunt for the shooter, but Marcus fears for their safety, arguing that he has left that life behind. Feeling the weight of the situation, Mike decides to take matters into his own hands, tapping into his underground connections for clues about Armando’s identity.
In a desperate attempt for information, Mike confronts a retired criminal, Manny The Butcher (DJ Khaled), using extreme measures to extract details about the shooter. Teaming up with AMMO, tension builds as they delve into a series of confrontations, each more dangerous than the last. A pivotal moment unfolds during an attempted drop-off with a criminal named Grassie, where chaos reigns and tragedy strikes just as Mike closes in for answers.
As the stakes rise, Marcus learns from a snitch about Armando’s relentless pursuit of him, compelling him to mend ties with Mike to tackle the mounting threats. This series of events propels them toward a fateful encounter with Armando, revealing their familial ties in a heart-wrenching realization.
The narrative hurtles forward to a high-octane climax set in Mexico, where Isabel’s mercenaries join the fray. The ensuing battle tests the mettle of Mike, Marcus, and AMMO, showcasing their determination while dealing with personal revelations and sacrifices. In a showdown replete with emotional turmoil and action-packed visuals, Armando’s loyalties are tested as family ties emerge in the crossfire.
As the dust settles, there’s a newfound camaraderie among the team. Rita’s promotion marks a fresh chapter while Mike and Marcus bond over moments with little Baby Marcus, singing the iconic “Bad Boys” anthem. Before the credits roll, in a surprising twist, Mike visits Armando in prison, extending a chance for redemption, hinting at possibilities ahead for both characters as they navigate their intertwined fates.
