Nikhil Kapoor [Sanjay Suri] returns from the United States to Mumbai, seeking a little escape after the long flight, and he heads straight to a nightclub to unwind. In the neon glow and pulsing music, he is instantly drawn to a woman who doesn’t bother introducing herself; when he gathers the courage to ask for her name, she slips away into the crowd, leaving him with a mix of curiosity and longing.
The next day, he reconnects with an old friend, Rahul Kher [Jimmy Shergill], and the mood shifts from casual camaraderie to a familiar warmth as they shoot hoops and reminisce. In their circle, Steve O’Brien [Rehaan Engineer] and another of Nikhil’s friends drop in, and the atmosphere brightens—until Anamika Joshi [Urmila Matondkar] enters with her friend Farhad. A simple conversation between Nikhil and Anamika triggers a tense misunderstanding when Farhad misreads their interaction as flirting or harassment, and a skirmish erupts.
What begins as a frayed moment quickly escalates. Rahul, Steve, and Nikhil find themselves entangled in the rising heat, while Farhad pulls a gun impulsively. In the struggle, Nikhil wrests the weapon away and points it at Farhad to defend himself. The scene spirals, and a shot rings out, striking Rahul in the back. Steve lunges to restrain Nikhil, Rahul slumps, and Anamika vanishes into the night. Farhad flees the country, slipping away to Australia as the police move in. Nikhil is arrested, Rahul is left paralyzed, and he disappears behind the bars of the system, with no easy way to contact Anamika to clear his name.
Three years pass, and Ira Malhotra [Juhi Chawla Mehta] steps into the story, hearing Nikhil’s side of things and helping him secure bail. Once released, Nikhil begins to uncover the pieces of a puzzle he never invited into his life. He reconnects with Rahul and Anamika and learns that someone engineered the entire sequence, a trap still at large. The truth that emerges is more tangled than he expected: Ira and Rahul were having an forbidden affair, and Steve had learned of it. In a bid to teach Rahul a hard lesson that night at the party, Steve triggers the gun while trying to stop Nikhil, making it look like Nikhil had pulled the trigger. Ira, who has suspected the larger game all along, helps Nikhil escape the worst and pursues the path to clearing his name.
The night grows heavier with betrayal. Ira tries to leave Steve and confronts him, but he corners them with a gun. In the ensuing chaos, Steve shoots Nikhil in the stomach. Ira, overwhelmed by guilt and responsibility for the fallout, shoots herself, and Steve, wracked with remorse, ends his own life. The consequences crash down around the trio as Anamika and Rahul rush back to Nikhil’s house, where the dying man sinks, his last breath slipping away in Anamika’s embrace.
The film closes on a quiet, somber note: Anamika and Rahul stand together, watching a sun dip below the horizon, a moment of shared silence lingering as the credits roll. The story leaves a lingering sense of how one night of reckless decisions can unravel lives, expose hidden loyalties, and seal fates in a web of revenge, love, and forgiveness.
