As the sun-drenched summer unfolds, three friends—Cody, Abby, and Fig Newton—find themselves at the rustic farm belonging to the Newton grandparents in Upstate New York for an adventurous week. Accompanying them is Marcella Walker, Abby’s closest friend, ready to swap the city vibe for the serenity of country life. However, the ever-skeptical Cody doubts the farm’s ability to provide excitement, prompting Abby and Marcella to take action. With a wicked glimmer in her eye, Abby collaborates with Marcella to play a playful prank on Cody, smearing a Barney doll all over his face, leaving him in a sticky predicament.

Cody, refusing to back down, snatches the toy and sets off with it, leading the girls on a hilarious chase across the farm. Their antics continue to escalate, eventually culminating in Cody hiding the coveted Barney doll in the bathroom. Just when he thinks he’s outwitted them, Marcella and Abby catch up, revealing that this is just the beginning of their imaginative escapade. Despite his protests that real dinosaurs don’t speak or dance, Cody is unaware that Barney is about to unlock a magical adventure within the enchanting barn, where imagination soars and curious wonders await.

As twilight blankets Cody’s family home, the porch transforms into a haven for storytelling, where Grandpa delights everyone with tales of Barney’s mysteries within their barn, dismissing any notions of an inanimate toy. The evening resonates with the sweet melody of “Let Me Call You Sweetheart,” as Grandpa serenades Grandma, with Fig adding a cheerful accompaniment. As the grandparents retreat to their cozy quarters, leaving the children outside, Barney appears, prompting the trio to sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”

Under the glittering night sky, Cody is captivated by Barney’s wise words about making wishes upon stars. Inspired, he boldly wishes for a summer full of excitement and unforgettable experiences. Out of the cosmos, a shooting star responds, delivering a mysterious egg to the barn—a discovery Cody makes the following day.

Curious about this intriguing arrival, Barney and the children rush to share their find with the grandparents, only to be sidetracked by Fig’s tearful outburst. Grandma proposes a visit to Mrs. Goldfinch for Abby and Marcella while Cody seeks out Barney, who is deep in contemplation.

As chance would have it, Abby and Marcella whisk Cody away to Mrs. Goldfinch, who reveals that the egg is a dreammaker, capable of turning one’s wishes into reality. Sadly, in a moment of carelessness, Cody knocks the delicate egg from its resting place, sending it spiraling toward a birdseed truck.

What follows is a gripping series of events as Barney and his friends chase the wayward egg through a festive parade, skillfully avoiding curious onlookers. Their journey takes them to a lively French restaurant, where Barney enchants diners with “If All the Raindrops,” and to a colorful circus, where they harmonize with “We’re Gonna Find a Way.” This wild chase becomes a thrilling adventure, mapping Cody’s journey of discovery.

In a heart-pounding finale, Barney’s crew manages to retrieve the egg just before it hatches. Back in the safety of the barn, Baby Bop searches frantically for her blanket, only to be joined by B.J. and Baby Bop just in time for the miraculous unveiling of the dreammaker egg.

A charming, koala-like creature named Twinken emerges, revealing glimpses of Abby’s and Barney’s deepest desires, inviting them to reflect upon their innermost thoughts. Apologizing for his earlier behavior, Cody expresses his remorse to Barney, who graciously accepts, signifying their deepening friendship. They embrace in a heartfelt hug, reinforcing their bond.

As Twinken’s magnificent fireworks light up the night, with vibrant sparks raining down into Barney’s arms, the delightful atmosphere culminates with Barney singing “I Love You.” Soon, everyone joins in a joyful chorus. However, signals from Baby Bop indicate it’s time to depart, and with hearts full, the group exits, leaving Twinken by Barney, who returns to his doll form—a testament to friendship’s magic and the beauty of understanding.
