Tinker Bell and her friends spend their summer at a fairy camp on the mainland, enjoying the warmth and companionship of their fairy community. Intrigued by the human world, Tinker Bell, along with Vidia, decides to visit a nearby human’s house, followed discreetly by Vidia. At the same time, Dr. Griffiths and his daughter Elizabeth “Lizzy” arrive at their summer home. Lizzy becomes enchanted by a handmade fairy house she leaves outside, which captures Tink’s curiosity. Ignoring Vidia’s warnings, Tink enters the house, but Vidia’s attempt to warn her results in the door slamming shut and jamming.
When Lizzy returns, Vidia struggles to free Tinker Bell, leading Lizzy to discover her. Fascinated, Lizzy keeps Tink a secret from her busy father while trying to show her to him, but he is preoccupied with his scientific work. Lizzy secretly shares her love for fairies with Tink, who is touched and decides to teach her about their world. Lizzy records everything she learns in a journal her father gave her, eager to understand more.
As the rain clears, Tink prepares to leave, but Lizzy rushes to show her father her discoveries. Seeing his leaky roof, Tink stays to help fix the problem, spending the night repairing the leaks so Dr. Griffiths can focus on his work. Her kindness pays off when she releases a butterfly she had been caring for, unknowingly accidentally breaching a plan of Dr. Griffiths to display butterflies to a museum committee in London.
Meanwhile, Vidia gathers a team, including Rosetta, Iridessa, Fawn, Silvermist, Clank, and Bobble, to rescue Tinker Bell. Unable to fly in the rain, they build a boat to reach the house. Their journey starts smoothly but ends with a waterfall crash, forcing them to proceed on foot. During the rescue, Vidia admits she feels responsible for Tink’s capture, but her friends forgive her, recognizing her efforts.
The next morning, Lizzy is excited that the leaks are fixed. She rushes to show her father her journal, but he instead blames her for missing butterflies and sends her to her room. To lift Lizzy’s spirits, Tink teaches her how to fly using pixie dust. However, when Dr. Griffiths discovers Lizzy with Tink, he demands the truth. Lizzy tearfully admits her secret, but he still refuses to believe in fairies. Suddenly, Tink reveals herself and confronts Lizzy’s father, surprising him.
At that moment, the rescue team arrives. While distracting Lizzy’s cat, Vidia sneaks upstairs to find Tinker Bell. She spots Dr. Griffiths about to capture Tink and quickly pushes her out of the way, getting caught instead. Ignoring Lizzy’s pleas, he takes Vidia to London to reveal her discovery to a museum committee. Determined, Lizzy, with the help of Tink and her fairy friends, chases her father to the city. They manage to stop his car by tampering with the engine, allowing Lizzy to reach him and persuade him to listen. Dr. Griffiths finally believes Lizzy and admits he was wrong to dismiss her.
With the truth out, Lizzy and her father learn to fly with fairy dust, sharing a joyful moment. They return home with new understanding and appreciation for the fairy world. The story concludes with a lovely picnic outside the fairy camp tree, where Lizzy showcases her journal, now filled with all her adventures, as she and her father bond with Tink and her friends.
“Fairies are real,” Lizzy declares happily, a sentiment shared by everyone who witnesses the magic of friendship and belief.
