Barbie: Dolphin Magic

A mermaid and her four dolphin companions hide from a ship, but the youngest dolphin, Emerald, curiously approaches and is instantly captured as a gemstone dolphin. The capture is driven by a mysterious woman offering a reward for gemstone dolphins. Isla witnesses the trap from the sea and realizes the danger.

The mermaid Isla sets off to pursue the boat that captured Emerald. She instructs the other dolphins to stay put so they do not risk themselves. Her goal is to rescue Emerald and hide from the humans.

Ken starts his internship at the marine biology institute and arranges for Barbie and her sisters to stay nearby in a beachside cabin. The setup introduces the human side of the story and their proximity to the institute. The sisters prepare for a stay near the sea.

Skipper, while scuba diving, follows a strange animal to the institute and discovers Emerald imprisoned in a cove that has been converted into a recovery tank. They confirm Emerald is healthy but confined, and the staff insist on vet protocol before any release. The discovery sets the stage for a rescue.

The mermaid Isla appears to the group and reveals her true identity. She reluctantly agrees to trust Barbie and promises to return the next afternoon when the vet will be present. Barbie agrees to help if Isla teaches her how to swim like a mermaid.

Emerald's sisters Ruby, Topaz, and Amethyst arrive, and Isla confides her secret to Barbie. She swears Barbie to silence in exchange for Barbie learning to swim like a mermaid. The human and mermaid worlds begin to intersect more clearly.

Barbie and Isla hear Emerald's cries through a cave and discover there is an underwater tunnel from the bay into the cove. The team attempts to navigate the tunnel to reach Emerald but finds the system too complex. They decide to regroup and reassess the plan.

A sideshow company's helicopter lands at the institute, and Marlo reveals her plan to sell Emerald to the highest bidder. The threat adds urgency to the rescue mission. The dolphins and Isla realize time is running out.

The dolphins disobey Isla and head for the cove, and Marlo has Ken open the gate and then close it behind them, claiming it will help reduce Emerald's stress. Ken suspects something is off and tries to reopen the gate, but Marlo has already changed the code. The deception heightens the tension of the escape.

Skipper and Chelsea manage to hack Marlo's key fob device, but Marlo changes the code again and destroys the hacked device. The escape plan hits a snag as security tightens around the gate. Isla continues to act as a guide for the others.

Isla dives into the cove and reveals her mermaid form to the group, then hides the dolphins in the surrounding sea caves. The group realizes their only option is to rely on the tunnels and stealth. The tension peaks as Marlo closes in.

Isla gives Barbie a magic shell that can be used to signal her across the tunnel. Barbie moves to the far end of the bay and uses the shell to guide the dolphins toward Ken's motorboat. Marlo spots them and pursues in a helicopter.

Barbie disguises herself as a mermaid, drawing Marlo away while the others reach safety. Marlo captures Barbie but later realizes her mistake and lets her go. Barbie threatens to report the dolphin poaching to Marlo's superiors and authorities.

After the area is secured, Barbie uses the shell to summon Isla back to the beach. The dolphins swim offshore while Isla returns as a new sister figure, dubbed sister of the sea. Barbie and Isla vow to remain friends.
