Bride & Prejudice

Balraj, a barrister from London of Indian origin, arrives in Amritsar with his sister Kiran and American friend William Darcy. They are there to attend a wedding, which sets the backdrop for the unfolding events in the story.

Upon their arrival, Balraj and his companions meet Mr. and Mrs. Bakshi and their four daughters: Jaya, Lalita, Maya, and Lakhi. An instant attraction forms between Balraj and Jaya, but tensions arise when Lalita becomes offended by William's arrogant demeanor.

After the wedding, William expresses a desire to visit Goa for potential business. Balraj invites Jaya to join them, and Mrs. Bakshi suggests Lalita accompany them as a chaperon, setting the stage for new dynamics among the characters.

In Goa, Lalita confronts William over his views on Indian culture, critiquing his plans for a beach resort. Tension brews between them, contrasting her ideals with his touristy perception of India.

During a concert in Goa, Lalita meets Johnny Wickham, who shares his troubled past with William. The connection between Lalita and Johnny is immediate, yet it raises suspicions due to William's warnings about Johnny's character.

Back in Amritsar, a family gathering includes Mr. Kohli, who boasts of his success in America while belittling India. His comments prompt William to defend the beauty and love he has observed in the Bakshi family, surprising everyone.

Mr. Kohli surprisingly proposes to Lalita, who staunchly refuses him. This moment highlights her independence and desire to choose her own path, earning her father's pride despite her mother's disappointment.

After much tumult, Balraj reveals sudden travel plans that require them to return to London. The Bakshi family learns that Kohli has proposed to Lalita's friend Chandra, leading to mixed feelings among the daughters.

While traveling to Los Angeles, the Bakshi family unexpectedly runs into William at Heathrow Airport. Their conversation marks a turning point as they begin to see each other in a new light.

The wedding of Mr. Kohli occurs at a Darcy hotel, culminating in twists within the relationships among the main characters. Here, William's mother expresses her discontent about him showing interest in Lalita.
