Eight years after their last adventure, Miami detectives Marcus Barnett and Mike Lowrey are plunged into a new investigation. They discover a significant influx of powerful ecstasy drugs flooding their city, setting the stage for their chaotic journey ahead.

As Marcus and Mike conduct surveillance on boats arriving from Cuba, they unintentionally stumble upon a secret Ku Klux Klan meeting hidden in a swamp. This revelation leads them to a scheduled drug drop, hinting at a deeper connection to the ecstasy they're tracking.

When the detectives attempt a raid on the Klan members, the operation quickly spirals out of control. Due to malfunctioning radios and delayed backup, chaos ensues, resulting in Mike accidentally shooting Marcus in the buttocks amid the gunfire.

The failed raid leaves Marcus feeling uncertain about continuing his partnership with Mike. Meanwhile, Mike grapples with his secret romantic feelings for Marcus' sister, Syd, which further complicates their dynamic.

During a tense moment, Marcus accidentally consumes some of the ecstasy, raising the stakes of their operation. To create a diversion during their escape, Mike instructs undercover officers to crash an ambulance into the building, showcasing their improvised tactics.

Securing a search warrant from Captain Howard, the duo simultaneously raids both the mortuary and Tapia's mansion. Their efforts result in a Coast Guard interception of drugs and money, but danger looms as they face a furious Russian gangster.

The situation escalates when a Russian gangster named Alexei attacks during the raid, leading to a violent confrontation. In the chaos, Syd is captured by Tapia and taken away to Cuba, putting her life at risk.

In a desperate bid, Mike and Marcus, joined by a volunteer SWAT team, prepare for a military-style assault to rescue Syd from Tapia's stronghold. The mission becomes highly volatile as they attempt to outwit the drug lord and ensure Syd's safety.
