Gayathri reveals to Ananthan that his family descends from a line of powerful magicians, the Madambi Tharavadu. They are the protectors of nagamanikyam, a jewel believed to sit on a serpent's head. The jewel is hidden in a secret place inside their house and guarded by snakes, including a tiny serpent named Kunjootan.

Ananthan returns from America to his ancestral village to light the lamps at Shivakavu temple. On the journey home, he unexpectedly meets Maravi Mathai, a relative of his mother, on the train. This encounter marks the start of his immersion into village life.

Digambaran emerges as an antagonist and opposes the lighting of the lamps, citing local superstitions and his own plans to seize the nagamanikyam. He also seeks revenge against the Madambi Tharavadu for killing his grandfather Siddhayogigal.

Disbelieving Ananthan is confronted by the supernatural for the first time, sensing forces beyond ordinary explanation. The encounter foreshadows the magical dangers surrounding the nagamanikyam.

Bhadra, Ananthan's cousin, grows fond of him and their lighthearted flirting gradually develops into a heartfelt love. Their bond becomes a central emotional thread in the village's unfolding events.

Bhadra faces a grave dilemma, torn between embracing Ananthan's love and accepting the mystical path that could transform her into a Devi through a ritual of self-offering. The choice weighs personal happiness against sacred duty, shaping her fate.

Chemban, a blind martial artist and former ally of Digambaran, blocks Digambaran's hunt for the nagamanikyam. Digambaran overpowers Chemban, leaving a trail of blood behind.

Digambaran tempts Bhama to surrender her spirit so that Subhadra can be reincarnated as his lover. A sequence of exotic rites follows, featuring Kathakali performances and tantric rituals.

Bhama is killed by Digambaran for ruining his brahmacharya. The tragedy deepens the village's peril.

Ananthan injures Digambaran with a stone, and he and Bhadra escape from the showdown. The escape marks a turning point as they seek safety away from the menace.

Chemban and Digambaran duel ends with Chemban severing Digambaran's right toe that bears the magical ring, gouging out his eyes, and imprisoning him inside the cave. Digambaran collapses in grief as his powers fade.

With the Nagamanikyam restored, Ananthan and Bhadra reunite. Peace returns to Shivapuram.

The film closes with a brutally injured blind Digambaran wailing near the cave, having lost his powers and eyesight. His downfall marks the final echo of the conflict.
