Alone in the Dark

In the present day, Edward Carnby experiences a haunting nightmare from his childhood. He remembers hiding in a high-voltage box while witnessing bizarre, otherworldly creatures, which hints at the terrifying events he is destined to face.

As a paranormal investigator, Edward is determined to uncover the remnants of the lost Abkani civilization. His journey leads him to discover a trinket linked to the civilization, reigniting his search for answers.

Edward meets Aline Cedrac at a museum where she is scanning more Abkani artifacts. Their reunion takes a dangerous turn when James Pinkerton confronts Edward, attempting to seize a precious artifact, but Edward successfully defends himself.

Professor Lionel Hudgens survives a perilous expedition where his crew discovers a gold coffin on the ocean floor. Ignoring his warnings, they open the coffin, leading to their immediate demise, while Hudgens escapes clutching a mysterious item.

Following the opening of the coffin, an ex-friend of Edward mysteriously disappears, prompting concern. Reports of others vanishing across the USA and Canada add to the chilling mystery surrounding the resurrection of ancient horrors.

While Edward examines the Abkani artifact at his apartment, he is jolted awake by a piercing screech. This coincides with the activity at Bureau 713, where technicians detect unusual electromagnetic waves linked to the coffin's location.

That evening at the Natural History Museum, Edward and Aline's reunion is interrupted by the attack of a creature from the shipwreck. They manage to evade the creature until Bureau 713 agents arrive, causing it to retreat temporarily.

Commander Richard Burke arrives at the scene and dismisses Edward's observations, declaring that he no longer belongs with Bureau 713. Edward's frustration grows as he seeks answers regarding the strange occurrences linked to his childhood.

While analyzing a deceased friend's body, Sam Fischer reveals that Edward has a similar creature embedded within him. This shocking discovery ties Edward back to the unnatural events unfolding around him, linking his past to the present crisis.

Professor Hudgens resurfaces at the museum, accompanied by his own captive creature, and begins conducting dangerous experiments. This act reveals Hudgens' intentions to harness the power of these entities, intensifying the threat to Edward and Aline.

As night falls, Bureau 713 soldiers engage in a fierce battle against resurrected creatures at the museum. The chaos results in significant losses on both sides, highlighting the escalating violence and the dire stakes involved.

Edward learns that the Abkani once fought against these creatures. Their vulnerability to light indicates that the artifacts are gateways to a dimension filled with dormant monsters, providing clarity on the imminent danger facing them.

After an intense battle at the orphanage, Edward, Aline, and Burke confront Hudgens, who attempts to use Edward's artifact to unleash more horrors. Burke sacrifices himself by detonating a bomb, temporarily halting the chaos.

As dawn breaks, Edward and Aline emerge from the orphanage into a deserted city. The eerie silence is shattered by unsettling noises, leaving them to confront the ominous possibilities that await them, suggesting that their nightmares may not be over.
