Alien Abduction

A figure in a murky corridor grabs a camera and stuffs it into a disposal chute that opens into space. The camera drifts into space and falls back to Earth, where it is later recovered by the U.S. Air Force. The on-screen text reveals that the footage will be used as part of Project Blue Book.

Riley Morris, an autistic boy, records his family’s camping trip with a video journal on Brown Mountain, North Carolina. The trip includes his father Peter, mother Katie, and siblings Corey and Jillian. On the last night they glimpse strange lights in the sky that vanish as quickly as they appear.

Driving home the next morning, the family’s GPS directs them onto an isolated route and their signals fade away. They run low on gas and encounter a dead crow dropped beside the road. The eerie detour marks the start of their unraveling.

They reach a tunnel blocked with recently abandoned vehicles and descend to investigate. Peter spots a humanoid silhouette, realizes it isn’t human, and orders Corey and Riley to run. He is enveloped in light and vanishes before their eyes.

The family regroups with Katie and Jillian. A murder of crows lands on their car and the vehicle stalls, prompting them to seek shelter in a nearby cabin. The sudden danger underscores the long history of the Brown Mountain abductions.

Sean, a rugged recluse who owns the cabin, is initially hostile but softens when his guard dog is attacked by something. He explains that the Brown Mountain Lights and abductions have haunted the area for centuries. He begins to help barricade against the unseen threat outside.

Sean hears a radio message from his missing brother, which spurs him to leave and seek help. The family senses help may come too late, yet they brace as tension rises. The danger outside grows more immediate as night deepens.

Aliens breach the cabin. Corey hides the others in the cellar, but he is abducted amid the chaos. Sean returns to guide the family to his truck and head down the mountain, only to be driven toward a barn as the pursuing aliens close in.

Inside the barn, the aliens locate them and abduct Katie and Sean. Riley and Jillian manage to hide deeper in the woods, while the group’s chances of escape grow increasingly dim. The threat of capture looms large as night deepens.

Dawn breaks as they descend the mountain and reach a valley road that unexpectedly loops back toward the tunnel where their father was taken. Jillian collapses in despair as a police car arrives, but the aliens seize the policeman, Jillian, and Riley, who clings to the camera. The escape plan collapses into another abduction.

The footage resumes, showing a rapid ascent into orbit before cutting back to the film’s opening sequence. Two men in respirators and Hazmat suits are then seen taking the camera away in an Air Force van.

In a mid-credits scene, a North Carolina state trooper finds Peter huddled on a bridge, naked and in shock. The fate of the rest of the family remains uncertain, though police chatter hints that others may have been abducted as well. The mystery of the Brown Mountain events lingers unresolved.
