Agneepath

In 1977, on Mandwa island, Kancha Cheena schemes to take over the villagers' land by offering a bogus salt factory and a 100-year lease. Deenanath Chauhan, the beloved schoolteacher, warns the villagers against the deal and cautions them about the long-term trap. The villagers' support for Kancha foreshadows a deep conflict between tradition, wealth, and power.

Kancha hires men to sexually assault and murder a young girl at the school next to Deenanath's home. Deenanath investigates the crime, but the girl dies pointing to him, shattering the villagers' trust. The community, convinced of his guilt, begins to turn against him in the wake of the tragedy.

The mob hangs Deenanath from a tree, sealing his fate. Vijay and his mother Suhasini flee the island for safety in Mumbai. The tragedy seeds a burning urge for vengeance in a twelve-year-old Vijay.

In Dongri, Mumbai, Vijay and his pregnant mother start over as Suhasini gives birth to their daughter Shiksha. Vijay forms a bond with a local girl, Kaali. The harsh city life begins to shape his ambitions and loyalties.

Vijay comes under the wing of crime lord Rauf Lala, who is Kancha's adversary. He witnesses a murder by Rauf but refuses to testify, choosing loyalty instead. A corrupt cop, paid by Rauf's enemies, intimidates Vijay, and he shoots the officer to secure his place in Rauf's world.

Suhasini decides to shield Shiksha by taking her away from Vijay's influence. Later, Vijay kills Kaali's abusive father in a fit of rage, and Suhasini leaves with Shiksha. The family fractures as Vijay's vengeance begins to define him.

Fifteen years later, in 1992, Kaali lives in the same Chawl and Vijay returns to the city. He climbs the ranks under Lala, becoming a trusted lieutenant, while Kancha tries to push his drug empire into Mumbai. Vijay helps intercept Borkar's smuggling operations and secures a monopoly for Lala's syndicate.

With Mazhar dead, and Rauf hospitalized after a heart attack, Vijay seizes control of the empire and dismantles the trafficking, becoming the undisputed drug retailer of Mumbai. He solidifies his dominance as rivals fall away and the underworld reshapes around his authority.

Kancha invites Vijay to Mandwa and proposes an alliance for supplying drugs to Mumbai, in exchange for control of Mandwa. Vijay's aim remains personal: reclaim Mandwa, which Kancha resents. Kancha warns that to seal the deal he demands the assassination of Commissioner Gaitonde.

Kancha informs Vijay that Rauf has come out of hospital and kidnapped Shiksha for sale. Vijay returns to Mumbai and engages in brutal clashes that culminate in Lala's death, solidifying Kancha's fearsome hold over the city.

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations unfold as Surya, Kancha's lieutenant, grows suspicious of Vijay and makes a bid to strike at Gaitonde. Vijay intercepts Surya and slays him in a public spectacle, further cementing his fearsome power.

Kaali and Vijay confess their love and marry, choosing each other amid the chaos of crime. Soon after, Kaali is fatally shot by Kancha's henchmen in a shooting spree following their wedding rituals. The loss steels Vijay's resolve to exact vengeance.

Vijay journeys to Mandwa and orchestrates explosions that reduce the island to ashes. He confronts Kancha in a brutal duel, but Kancha proves powerful and overpowers him, tying him for a hangings ordeal. Vijay musters a final reserve of strength to strike back.

Vijay defeats Kancha by hanging him from the same tree that witnessed his father's execution. Gravely wounded, he dies in his mother's arms, reuniting in a vision with his father and his younger self. His mother forgives the path of Agneepath that Vijay chose.
