Researchers at a remote jungle island outpost uncover the dark practices of the local natives, who are deeply involved in voodoo and black magic. This discovery leads them to confront the spiritual ramifications of meddling with forces they do not understand.

In an act of retribution against the researchers, the local priest James Sampson is killed after he opens a gate to hell as part of his voodoo rituals. This act instantly stirs chaotic forces on the island and sets off a chain of horrifying events.

Following the priest's death, the portal to hell opens, leading to an eruption of undead terror as the dead begin to rise. The researchers face the consequences of their actions as they are hunted down one by one.

Amidst the chaos, Jenny, the daughter of a scientist couple, manages to escape from the island after her parents fall victim to the supernatural threats. She is protected by a magical necklace charm given to her by her mother, which plays a significant role in her survival.

Years later, Jenny returns to the jungle island with a group of mercenaries seeking to uncover the fate of her parents. However, tragedy strikes when their boat's engine unexpectedly dies, leaving them stranded on the cursed island.

Simultaneously, a trio of hikers stumbles upon a cave that conceals an ancient underground temple. Unknowingly, they awaken the curse that had been dormant, resulting in the revival of the dead.

As the curse is unleashed, the corpses rise from the dead and start to attack the living. The initial victims, David and Mad, lose their lives in confrontations with these newly revived zombies, leaving only Chuck to escape.

The mercenaries quickly come face to face with their first zombie. In a frenzied encounter, Tommy recklessly pursues and attacks it, only to be bitten, sealing his own fate as he begins to transform into a zombie.

The remaining mercenaries take refuge in the old medical quarters of the research facility. They fortify their position and arm themselves with the weapons left behind by previous researchers as the undead continue to rise around them.

Tragedy strikes as Louise is bitten by Tommy and turns into a zombie, subsequently infecting Rod. Rod soon becomes the first of the zombies to wield a weapon, intensifying the ongoing chaos as they continue to attack their former allies.

In a horrific turn of events, zombified Louise kills Dan, escalating the situation further. Chuck, left with no choice, must reluctantly take action and end Dan's suffering by killing him, solidifying the grim reality on the island.

In a desperate attempt to escape the overwhelming horde, the medical quarters are suddenly blown up by a stockpile of grenades. Jenny and Chuck manage to flee the burning ruins, narrowly avoiding their doom.

As they search for safety, Jenny and Chuck stumble upon the cave and temple once more. The undead continue their relentless pursuit, and the pressure mounts as they confront the horrors they believed were buried.

In a moment of desperation, Jenny decides to sacrifice herself by throwing her protective necklace charm into the hellgate, hoping to contain the horror. This act transforms her into an advanced zombie, leaving the true fate of her character ambiguous.

As chaos escalates, Chuck eventually meets a tragic end at the hands of the undead. His death signifies the culmination of the horrors unleashed on the island and Jenny's emotional and transformative journey.
