A Rage in Harlem

Slim, Hank and Jodie strike a deal with Lester to fence the gold stolen in the mining robbery. Lester reveals that Easy Money in Harlem is the only other fence who can take the gold, and the tension escalates. The sheriff arrives, causing a chaotic moment during which Imabelle drives off with the trunk toward New York.

In the confusion after the sheriff's arrival, Imabelle seizes the gold in a trunk and heads for Harlem in New York City. The escape shifts the crew's pursuit to Easy Money's domain in the city. The move sets up the Harlem leg of the plan to fence the gold.

Jackson works as a bookkeeper for H. Exodus Clay at a funeral parlor, a respectful yet naïve man. His estranged stepbrother Goldy is a hoodlum who impersonates a priest to sell fake 'tickets to heaven.' Jackson has managed to save only $1,500.

Imabelle arrives with the moneyless trunk and attends the Undertaker's Ball seeking support. She seduces Jackson and moves into his apartment, establishing herself in Harlem's underworld orbit. Her presence sets the stage for the crew's next theft attempt.

Slim and his crew travel to Harlem and recruit Imabelle to help steal Jackson's $1,500 using The Blow, a scam that supposedly multiplies money. They claim they can turn $1,500 into $15,000, but Jackson is reluctant to participate. The scheme tightens as the plan takes shape.

During the scam, the oven explodes, throwing the plan into chaos. Slim bursts into the room, impersonating a United States Marshal to seize control of the situation. The ruse spirals into a dangerous confrontation in Harlem.

Jackson bribes Slim with $200 to proceed with the ruse, but he must steal the money from Mr. Clay since his own stash is gone. The plan tightens as Harlem's criminal web tightens around him. Jackson's moral line blurs as the stakes rise.

Slim has arrested Imabelle and taken her away, forcing Jackson to seek help from Goldy to locate her. Goldy agrees to help, but he insists that he keep the gold for himself. The partnership between the two men becomes a tense alliance.

Goldy discovers the crew is using the gold to run a fake mine scam, exposing their deception. He provides Jackson with a fake bank roll to lure Gus, and the two head toward the crew's HQ with Big Kathy in tow. The plan pivots toward catching the crew red-handed.

Jackson, Goldy and Big Kathy confront Gus at the crew's headquarters; Goldy overpowers Gus and they enter the apartment posing as police. A confrontation erupts, and a police officer is blinded by acid as the crew escapes with Imabelle toward Slim's office. Harlem once again erupts in chaos.

Jackson, Goldy and Big Kathy secure a hearse from Mr. Clay's funeral parlor to transport the gold, then depart, abducting Imabelle along the way. The trio moves the treasure through Harlem toward a final disposition. Tension spikes as Slim closes in.

Slim and the crew attempt to sell the gold to Easy Money, but Slim cancels the deal in a fit of anger. A shootout erupts, Hank and Josie are killed; Goldy bursts in and is shot, and Easy Money is mortally wounded; Slim escapes with Imabelle. The Harlem chaos continues as loyalties fracture.

Imabelle shoots Slim dead just as Grave Digger and Coffin Ed arrest Jackson for his initial theft of Mr. Clay's money. Imabelle leaves with the money from the deal and heads back toward Mississippi. The power shift leaves Harlem's players reeling.

Mr. Clay posts bail for Jackson because he appreciates the business Jackson has drummed up for him. The money found on Slim's thugs will fund the funerals to be performed by Mr. Clay. Jackson hurries to the train station, doubt and hope mingling as he contemplates the journey ahead.

At the train station, Imabelle leaves $50,000 for Goldy and a similar sum for Jackson, with a note telling him that he is too good for her. Jackson and Imabelle briefly reconcile and then board the train together, heading back to Mississippi to start anew.
