Gypsy, a middle-aged woman, lives a solitary life, striving to get her book published. She works as a burlesque dancer, wishing to transition from that lifestyle due to her aging body and a newfound passion for writing.

Gypsy forms a friendship with her neighbor’s young boy, Sam, and his pet dog, Moses. This bond brings a sense of warmth and companionship to her otherwise lonely life.

Ralph, Gypsy's neighbor, reaches out to her in a state of panic. He reveals that he has stolen a large sum of money from a gangster named Jack and seeks her help, believing she is the only person who might be able to reach Jack.

After Ralph instructs Sam to bring his iPad with crucial information, Sam arrives to find his family brutally attacked. This traumatic event forces Sam to seek refuge with Gypsy.

Realizing the danger that Sam is in, Gypsy chooses to protect him at all costs. She quickly packs her belongings, takes Sam and Moses in her semi-truck, and sets off to distance them from the impending threat posed by Jack.

Gypsy aims to bring Sam to his uncle, a rabbi, for safety. However, upon their arrival, it becomes evident that the uncle is unprepared for the responsibility of taking care of Sam amidst the chaos.

During their travels, Gypsy begins to recognize Sam's intelligence and savvy nature, noting that he has experience with cryptocurrency. This realization deepens her connection with him, as she acknowledges his resilience.

Gypsy has a tense encounter with Jack, where she feigns delivering Ralph's dog to him. During the confrontation, Jack expresses his enduring love for Gypsy, despite their tumultuous past.

After managing to escape from Jack, Gypsy discovers that he has placed a tracker on her vehicle. This revelation elevates the stakes as they must find a way to outsmart Jack's men chasing them.

While on the run, Gypsy and Sam meet Tasmin, who unwittingly becomes part of their escape plan. Together, they navigate the dangers of Jack's pursuit, further building their bond.

Their journey leads them to Cascade, Montana, where Gypsy's friend Lacy offers them shelter. However, the safety is short-lived as Jack's henchmen soon track them down, escalating the tension.

In a desperate move to end the cycle of violence, Gypsy decides to return the stolen money to Jack. This selfless act demonstrates her growing attachment to Sam and her desire to protect him.

Jack's men catch up with Gypsy and Sam, leading to a harrowing shootout. Despite her valiant efforts to protect Sam, Gypsy is shot multiple times, leaving them both in a dire situation.

After a close brush with death, Gypsy miraculously awakens in the hospital. Her determination to reclaim her life is reignited, especially with Sam identifying himself as her son.

Reunited and stronger than ever, Gypsy and Sam drive away in a new car, celebrating their bond. Acknowledging the lingering danger from Jack, they are now prepared to face the future together.
