Flatland

In Flatland, three days before the year 3000, A Square and his son A Hexagon practice the art of sight recognition. The day’s routine is interrupted by B Square’s warning to stay home during the looming Senate meeting. The domestic calm foreshadows the political storm ahead.

The Senate of the Great Southern Republic convenes to debate the Chromatist movement led by Senator Chromatistes. The government weighs legalizing self-coloring among Flatlanders, a provocative stance amid growing tensions with the Northern Kingdom. The debate foreshadows a broader civil conflict.

Disregarding his brother's cautions, A Square accepts a Chromatist client—one of the first women charged with Chromatism. He meets her on the way home from the Senate and begins to grasp the personal stakes behind political reform. The case marks A Square's first direct confrontation with the Chromatists.

As A Square leaves the Senate, President Circle’s soldiers clash with Chromatist supporters in the streets. Senator Chromatistes and many backers are killed, sparking a citywide riot. A Square manages to return home and barricade his family for the night.

A Square awakens to learn the riots originated from the Senate meeting he attended, and martial law grips the city. He searches the chaos for his missing brother B Square. At the moment of distress, A Sphere, CEO of Messiah, Inc, materializes and abducts him, revealing the existence of three dimensions.

A Sphere transports A Square to the Great Hall, where he begins to explain the third dimension as a concept to President Circle and the Priests. The revelation unsettles Flatland's leadership, who struggle to reconcile it with their order. After the encounter, those witnessing the demonstration are executed, except B Square, who is imprisoned for life to keep silence.

With time slipping away, A Sphere leads A Square to Messiah, Inc in Spaceland to deepen his education on the gospel of the three dimensions. A Square becomes enthralled by the vast complexity of Spaceland, imagining higher dimensions beyond three. A Sphere remains skeptical of such possibilities.

A Square’s activities in Spaceland trigger a national emergency, prompting the Spaceland Senate to demand his appearance for a hearing to explain the breach of protocol. They warn that the act could be seen as war-like provocation by their enemies, the X-Axis. The political stakes escalate as the pressure mounts.

During the debate, A Square articulates his multi-dimensional theory to a largely unsympathetic crowd. The X-Axis threat looms as the session continues, and air-raid sirens wail outside. The tension underscored the risk of a broader conflict erupting from this new science.

As the debate rages, A Square tries to explain his theory, but the overwhelming gravity of three dimensions overwhelms his two-dimensional body. The crowd reacts with panic, and chaos ensues as the fragile balance of Spaceland’s world appears to falter.

A Sphere manages to send A Square back to Flatland just as Messiah, Inc is bombarded. He wakes up in his bed to learn that preaching about the third dimension is now illegal. B Square has been jailed, and fear leads him to restrain A Square with a warning to silence.

A Square informs his wife that they intend to defect to the Northern Kingdom to spread the gospel more freely. Soldiers arrive to stop them, but Frau A Square’s war cry stuns the guards and enables their escape. The couple begins a perilous trek toward the border.

At the border, A Square is cornered by pursuing soldiers, but the Northern Kingdom army intervenes with an attack. Flatland begins to disappear as the conflict escalates, and a voice welcomes A Square into another dimension. The film closes on this leap into the unknown.
