2001 Maniacs

Three college students head to Daytona Beach for Spring Break. At a truck stop they meet three travelers who agree to join them on the trip. They continue toward Cory's brother's beach house.

A Detour sign lures them off the highway to the southern town of Pleasant Valley. The eccentric Mayor Buckman greets them and hints the town is welcoming outsiders.

The group is joined by Ricky, Kat, and Joey. Mayor Buckman declares them honored guests for the town's two-day Guts N Glory Jubilee.

Malcolm and Lea arrive in town and are taken to Granny Boone's hotel. Their arrival expands the circle of outsiders in Pleasant Valley.

Kat is killed when residents tie her hands and feet and draw and quarter her. Her body is reportedly served as a dish for the others.

Nelson is forced to drink battery acid, mistaken for Moonshine, and dies. The others begin to sense that the town's hospitality masks something deadly.

Lea is dressed in a Southern gown and drawn to the podium during the celebration. Granny Boone pulls a rope and a large bell crashes down on her.

Ricky sees Lea's death and runs to alert the others, but Buckman's son Rufus and other residents kill him in a brutal act as Buckman looks on.

Joey finds Kat's dog tags from Miss Peaches and realizes Kat and Nelson have been missing for some time. The group grows increasingly suspicious of Pleasant Valley.

Malcolm heads toward a cotton press to search for Lea but is crushed by the machinery in a lethal trap. The town's traps reveal itself more clearly as the danger escalates.

Cory and Joey go to the hotel to retrieve belongings; Cory leaves to fetch his phone. Joey finds a cabinet filled with jars of body parts and is captured by Rufus.

Cory returns to his room and is confronted by Miss Peaches, who seduces him and then kills him with metal fangs. The town's brutality closes in on the remaining group.

Anderson and Joey are tied up and taunted by the townsfolk. Buckman reveals the severed heads of their friends and offers Anderson a grim choice to kill Joey. He refuses; Anderson fights Buckman, rips his eyepatch to reveal maggots, and they escape on Malcolm's bike.

The next day, Anderson and Joey go to the local authorities only to find Pleasant Valley has vanished, leaving a graveyard behind. A plaque explains the Civil War massacre and that the vengeful ghosts haunt the town.

As they drive away on Malcolm's bike, Anderson and Joey are decapitated by barbed wire set by Hucklebilly. Hucklebilly retrieves their heads and vanishes along the road.
