Sarah Tyler drives along a winding road at night to return to her home after staying in Los Angeles for a couple of years. She greets her step-father who is busy with paperwork, signaling her return and the start of her stay back in England.

Sarah leaves the house to visit her brothers, who are at the nearby barn fixing a jeep. She notices a brewing storm as she arrives, and finds her brothers having a party with friends, including Stephen, Emily, Charlie, Gary, and Doug. Their youngest brother Luke is sleeping with their dog Stoner among the hay.

Sarah wakes up Luke and discovers her parents are arguing over bills and her mother's alleged affair. She instructs Luke to go back to sleep and sends Stoner home as she tries to comprehend the family tensions. This reveals underlying family conflicts.

The group returns to the house during a power outage caused by the storm. They follow bloodstains to their father's room and are shocked to find his lifeless body, seemingly attacked by a wild animal, with internal organs missing and visible rib cage. They also find Stoner’s bloody collar and remains.

A beast-like creature appears and attacks the group upstairs. They manage to close the door to escape its fury, but the beast kills Gary and later targets Sarah and others, forcing them to take refuge in the bathroom. The creature then starts pounding on the bathroom door.

The group escapes through a passageway to the attic to avoid the beast. Sarah mentions needing her phone to call for help, but it’s in her bag downstairs, and Stephen's phone is dead. They devise a plan for Sarah to distract the creature and Charlie to retrieve the phone from their father's room.

Charlie successfully reaches the phone and attempts to call the police, informing about the wild animal. However, he is attacked and killed by the beast during the call, leaving Sarah vulnerable as she tries to escape from the creature.

Sarah is bitten on the leg by the beast while trying to escape back to the attic. She and the others fight to fend off the creature, with Emily attempting to shoot it but tragically shooting herself in the process. The conflict reaches a peak as survivors try to find a way out.

McRae, a dog catcher, and Officer May arrive at the scene to investigate the wild animal call. They find an abandoned car with no sign of the driver, indicating the creature’s attack might be more severe than initially thought. Tension builds as the true danger becomes clearer.

Sarah, Luke, and surviving friends make their way to the barn to escape the beast. They discover her mother may be involved, and Sarah hints at Stephen’s tampering with their mother’s car to hide her affair. The scene escalates as Sarah fights and eventually transforms into a monstrous figure.

Sarah, now transformed into a monstrous form, fights the beast which resembles her mother. Luke escapes with her, and the survivors realize that the beast is connected to her mother’s identity. The true nature of the threat is revealed as Sarah’s transformation symbolizes her deeper connection to the creature.

Sarah and Luke manage to drive away in a car, leaving behind the chaos. Sarah is shown to have reverted to her human form, and they seek a safe place to begin anew. The final scene hints at the lingering presence of the monstrous threat.

In the closing moments, it is revealed that Gary, who was presumed dead after the attack, is actually still alive. This leaves an open question about the true extent of the threat and possible future encounters.
