Young Bill Hickok

An agent of an unnamed foreign power plots to seize California during the Civil War. He uses Morrell and his Overland Raiders to prevent news from reaching the east. The Raiders rustle stagecoaches and Pony Express horses from relay stations, severing all lines of communication between the east and the West.

Bill Hickok is stationed at a relay post when the Raiders attack. He fights off the attackers and finishes off the last of the raiders, but is severely hurt in the process. Calamity Jane and Gabby arrive with their Indian helpers and stay to help while Bill recovers.

Louise Mason, Bill's old fiancée, arrives seeking reconciliation after their broken engagement over the war. They decide to forget the conflict and plan a wedding. The reunion brings a moment of happiness amid the ongoing conflict.

Marshal Evans tasks Bill with moving a shipment of gold to the east to support the Federal war effort. Recognizing he would be targeted if he went in person, Bill decides to pretend he will carry it while delegating the actual transport to Gabby and Calamity.

Bill conceals the actual delivery by making it seem he will transport the gold himself. In reality Gabby and Calamity carry the gold to the east while Bill signals departure. The ruse aims to reduce the chance of an ambush on the convoy.

Louise informs Tower that Bill isn’t taking the gold to protect himself from attack. The Raiders attack Gabby and seize the gold, thwarting Bill's plan. The loss triggers a frantic pursuit and raises the stakes for everyone.

Bill returns to town to see what happened to Gabby and the gold and to assess the ambush's fallout. He is worried that Gabby may be in trouble or that the plan has failed. The urgency mounts as he tries to piece together the sequence of events.

Tower convinces the men that Bill is the head of the Raiders and is trying to escape with the gold. He uses deception to isolate Bill and justify a pursuit. Gabby overhears their conversation, realizing the accusation is a trap.

Gabby overhears Tower's plan and rides to warn Bill. He realizes they may have only moments to thwart the trap and salvage the situation. The warning sets the stage for Bill to act under pressure.

Gabby helps Bill escape captivity and the pair glimpse Tower fleeing with the gold and Raiders. The confrontation heightens the tension as pursuit resumes. They vow to stop Tower and recover the treasure.

Bill convinces Marshal Evans to pursue Tower and the Raiders with the posse. They ride out to reclaim the gold and bring the conspirators to justice. The pursuit tightens as war-weary tensions reach a climax.

Tower and the Raiders are captured and the stolen gold is recovered. With the Civil War ending, Bill finally marries Louise Mason, sealing a peaceful ending after a turbulent chase. The town celebrates the restoration of order and a new future for the couple.
