You Gotta Stay Happy

On her wedding day, Dee Dee Dillwood expresses second thoughts about marrying Henry Benson. Ralph Tutwiler and Dr. Blucher urge her to plunge into the union and stop doubting herself. The tension sets the stage for a hesitant start to the honeymoon.

In their hotel room, Dee Dee tells Henry that the marriage is a mistake. Henry refuses to be humiliated and lunges toward her, escalating the tension. Dee Dee decides to retreat and escape to the neighboring wedding suite.

Marvin and Bullets quietly move Dee Dee out of the hotel and take her to Newark Airport where a twin engine cargo plane awaits. Dee Dee begs to be taken further, and Marvin agrees to fly her as far as Chicago. They share the cramped flight with a cigar smoking chimp named Joe.

In Chicago, a detective questions the group about a blonde embezzler. Dee Dee shows a shopping spree and gifts, hinting she is more than a penniless girl. Marvin learns that Bullets sold two tickets to a newlywed couple and that Dee Dee sold a ticket to Mr Caslon for 300 dollars, prompting them to head toward Tulsa to avoid authorities.

A storm forces an emergency landing in a farm field near Tulsa. The farmer Matt Racknell and his family welcome the weary crew. Dee Dee and Marvin realize their mutual attraction and share a kiss, complicating their situation.

The embezzler Caslon confesses to Marvin that he is actually Chalmers, the man the police are seeking, and that his secretary pressured him into the crime. Marvin is confused about Dee Dee's true situation and feelings as the revelations pile up.

The Cherokee Indians help pull the plane from the mud and it takes off for California, leaving Dee Dee behind. Marvin later lands in Burbank and discovers that delays have left his airline facing bankruptcy. The revelation ties personal and corporate stakes together.

The next day at the airport, Dee Dee tells Marvin that he will run the company while she stays at home. She presents him with his own four engine plane, signaling a new balance of power and partnership between them.
